my husband is being sued for paternity for a child born 16 years ago. my question is why did the mom wait so long. could it be that michigan changed the welfare laws and are now requiring both parents to be on the application. is that fair to the child? making her wait 16 years to meet her dad. would it be wrong to sue for custody?

i want everyones opinion on this.

When it comes to flying and aiport security would it really bother you as an HONEST AMERICAN that Homeland Security may obtain more information about you than they claim they do? Does it really bother you that they don't tell you the whole truth about their information practices?

My sister just got laid off from her job today. The reason...She was in a car accident in the company vehicle. All parties involved agree that she is 100% NOT AT FAULT. Even her boss says it wasn't her fault but he laid her off today because his insurance is going to go up now. Is this legal? She lives in California.

Some people say that the death penalty shouldn't be brought back because the person that has done something to desrve it won't be being punished enough. But when you think about it, if the death penalty was in place then people going around killing people or doing other things that deserve servre punishment, could be easily released beucase of 'good behavior' or something and kill again... There is also prison over-crouding and stuff... But wouldn't it be more releiving to hear that someone so fearfull was stopped completely...

Just trying to get a bit of contraversy going...

A 27 year old man was recently sentenced to 150 1/2 years in prison for kidnapping and r aping a 17yr old girl in New Hampshire.

http://www.wmur.com/news/10591193/detail.html

Do you think the sentence is a good one? Does your local law enforcement treat sex offenders this harshly?

I am curious about what the sentence would have been in other states.

PS I am also curious why I have posted 2 other versions of this question and have not seen them posted

Friend, left to attend to his failing Mother. He went out, took his usual Karate class, went to his friends home. Drank too much, went home. His Mother wanted to know what he had learned karate class. He was showing her when the kudo stick hit a ceiling fan that took the stick out of his hadn and flew towards Mom. She hit her mouth on the table. Her mouth bleeding she got to the bathroom where she fell on the tub hurting herself more than before. He heard her fall. He was too drunk to help and passed out. When he awoke the morning, she had passed away in her sleep. He was sentenced to 14 years after taking the Alfred plea. He just went to court and was classified as a slayer. Unfourtantly he is an heir. His mother owned lots of Federal land in two other states. I, a personal representative to the estate sold their home. He represented himself without counsel. The county we live in knew this family for many years. His sister has been awarded all there was. He can appeal the courts decision but not without counsel. Can anyone help? This has been a nightmare for the family.

My friend has a daughter and he allowed me to have her for the evening. I made a small mistake in her grooming and the Father called it a "HUGE MISTAKE". I told him to "count me out as a friend". He got angry and replied"I will do that completely and I will show you how!! I am taking out a lawsuit out to wipe you of the face of the earth....$500,000 for damages to my child. I was in shock!!! He is greedy...gets some of his money perhaps through this way in business matters . I do not want this lawsuit, but if it becomes one ....what is the reason i said "count me out as a friend"? He says because I have no remorse for what I did and don't care about his kid and so and so on....
I sent an apology letter and he says it is evidence I am wrong and he will be awarded money based on the apology letter. I have a phone call he made to be about the letter ....does not appreciate such letters as such etc etc. What was wrong with my words???? I am baffled by all this nonsense. Child is fine.

If you have an Equine (or any other animal) at your house that has been there for 6+ months and the owner comes to retrieve it, do you have the right to refuse? I'm not a boarding stable and I have been working with the horse for over 5 years and have put at least $1400 into her-not including feed and hay! I am NOT being paid for any services or having any help with the animals bills.

The steal beams in the WTC was evidence.
Before the pieces could be examined by forensic experts they were shipped to China for recycling.
Explosive's leave a traceable component in the blasted material.

What does a crimminal think about first, immediately after the crime... GET RID OF THE EVIDENCE. Well Bush and Company did an excellant job of destroying the evidence, but they still got caught. It's a matter of time before they go to jail.

K so my bf been paying about $1000 for child support. They agreed on partial custody. His ex wife is taking the money for her and her boyfriend and not using it for the 2 kids needs. When ever they need something my bf ends up paying for it. He as been given her half every two weeks, but latley he's been giving her all one lump sum at the end of the month. Now that it's the holiday she wants her money early, but my bf doesn't have it til next week when it's due. She told him that she already spoke with her lawyer and that she's gona get him for more money and that cuz the child support never went through the courts she's goin to say he hasn't been paying her any money. That's over 25,000! My bf has check stubs and that's about it. Can he win this when she takes him to court? Or any suggestions of what he can do?

I was watching the music video for Damien Marley's Welcome to Jamrock song and there was a word bleeped out.

I later bought the song unedited and realized that the word that was was censored was "murder"

Its the line that goes: "out in the streets, they call it murder!"

Why is the word murder bleeped out?

did what he did to destroy those 3 young mens lives?Mr Smith ,a former district attorney, summed it up pretty good when he said "the state is the winner every time if justice has been served whether innocent or guilty". I agree with that and in my opinion Mr Ifong has made not served his office with interigy and is a very black mark on the legal system of this country.I feel sure he is not the 1st district attorney who has done this and got away with it as a result an innocent person is behind bars or maybe the death pentaly.. This is far too serious to be taken lightly and the legal establishment needs this case to be examined carefully or all of us are losers.
