My friend has a daughter and he allowed me to have her for the evening. I made a small mistake in her grooming and the Father called it a "HUGE MISTAKE". I told him to "count me out as a friend". He got angry and replied"I will do that completely and I will show you how!! I am taking out a lawsuit out to wipe you of the face of the earth....$500,000 for damages to my child. I was in shock!!! He is greedy...gets some of his money perhaps through this way in business matters . I do not want this lawsuit, but if it becomes one ....what is the reason i said "count me out as a friend"? He says because I have no remorse for what I did and don't care about his kid and so and so on....
I sent an apology letter and he says it is evidence I am wrong and he will be awarded money based on the apology letter. I have a phone call he made to be about the letter ....does not appreciate such letters as such etc etc. What was wrong with my words???? I am baffled by all this nonsense. Child is fine.

Seriously, what do you mean by "He allowed me to have her for the evening" and what was the small mistake in grooming? Are you male or female? I read one of your previous questions, is this the 2 yr old you spoke of? If you only had her for the evening, why would you need to "groom" her? There has to be more to this than you are letting on. To be honest this sounds kinda shady to me. A little more info would be helpful.

Unless you did something to physically or emotionally harm the child, he has no case. Did she cry? Was it hurting her? I don't know what you did, but it doesn't sound that bad. It's just the way most people respond nowadays to every little thing. He's just blowing smoke up your ***. Trying to scare you. Either way, at least now you know what kind of person he is. Have the police shown up at your door? Has anyone legally contacted you? He wouldn't be calling you at all and making threats if he had a lawyer. Any lawyer with half a brain would advise him against that. He's being pretty dumb. Here's what you do.... Forget about it! Forget about him and his crazy accusations. Don't call him, don't speak with him at all. If he calls you tell him you don't want anything to do with him and he is not to call your house. Be as polite as you can possibly be with him to show him you are being mature (and in case he tapes your phone conversations). If he keeps calling get yourself an answering machine that records on regular tapes and tape every single call he makes to you whether you answer or not. Try blocking his number. Whatever he does, know your rights. If you need to, report him for harassing you(after obtaining at least 2-3 pieces of evidence). This guy sounds like he's being a big bully. Once he knows that you are smart enough to realize that he not only has NO case, but has NO IDEA what he's talking about, he'll hopefully leave you alone. Protect yourself, but always keep your cool. Don't do anything that will give him a REAL reason to sue you. This guy's an idiot. I feel bad for his daughter! good luck either way. As long as YOU know you did nothing wrong, you'll be fine. Just don't let him get under your skin. Try and have a Happy Holiday now, hun.

You have to exaggerate.
The father (if he is a single father) might just be so over-protective of the child that he freaks out easily.

Don't expect him to win unless you did something more than a "small" mistake.

The words you said are not relevent. Make sure you keep the voicemail he sent you. The issue is simply negligence and negligence is defined as (roughly) failure to take normal care that would be expected reasonably. YOu didn't say what happened but if it was truly minor I wouldn't worry about it.
