Law & Ethics - December 2006

As a person with religious beliefs and values and principals and character; the person that I am goes everywhere I go.

If God compels me to be honest and kind and compassionate; how do I leave that at home when I go to the Congress or Parlement? Should I forget what God commanded me to be and do? Do I become a liar, a deceiver, cruel, and rude because I have to leave my religion at home. People who do not have an Eternal world view are often attacked by people who have a temporary (temporal-secular) world view. They do not realize that they are taking their belief system to work or to political debates just as much as the one person they are accusing of bringing their religious beliefs with them. It's a double standard and hypocritical, don't you think?

Why not take a plane to Mexico? It would be faster. Also, why Mexico? Why not Canada? They speak English in Canada.

Lets say a group of older teenagers bullied a younger child into doing something dangerous. Lets say he died (but that was not their intention) and one of them (lets call him Fred) tried to save him but was to late. If they where put to court, what is the most likely thing they would get charged with? Would Fred get off any easier or would he be charged the same as his friends? What do you think would happen to the group of teenagers?

When in other countries if a fixed penalty is issued very rarely is there a complaint here it is:

The Policeman didn't have anything better to do

The Camera should not have been there

There was no sign to say I couldn't

I was only in there 5 mins

I was only doing 4 miles over the limit

The supermarket make it so easy

He shouldn't have left it there

There was nothing else to do

Most real criminals have a saying:

My mom and dad went to Wal-Mart tonight. As they were searching for a parking spot, this car was backing out in the front of them. Another car was behind. The car in the front backing out tore off the front of my dad's car and drove away.

My parents called the police and they didn't show up until 2 hours later. My dad had the car's licence plate number, but on the computer it said the number didn't exist. The store's manager said he'll check the security camera tape, but he never did.

The police wrote on the report that an unknown driver damaged my father's car. And that's all! The police isn't even going to search for the sob that did the damage to my dad's car. Now, my dad will have to pay $500 for the damage.

Where's the justice?!

I'm a student and can't afford this crap, so is there anyway I can get out of paying these... or at least the late fee's? I didn't know they even existed, I never found anything on my car and I recieved nothing in the mail. Anyone have any advice? or should I just bend over and take it...

My group wants to record a cappella versions of several popular (not a cappella) songs, some still under copyright. We don't plan on selling the CDs; we may possibly accept donations. Since we're doing this non-commercially, do we have to pay the compulsary license fee for use of the copyrighted songs?

I believe anytime we get treated like crap we should Walk Out.

If a forum moderator threatens to arrest you and you did nothing wrong walk out, If a forum moderator censors your good posts Walk Out. I believe if a school treats people, or certain people bad Walk Out. If a policeman kills someone, beats up someone not resisting cops, or a policeman tries to sexually touch/rape you Walk Out, or protest.

We all have the right to not be treated bad. We should have rights and the right to peacefully protest.

Do you agree that we need to protest peacefully, or peacefully Walk Out?

What could be the outcomes of a DWI accident that caused major damage to a utility pole, a fuel line, the street, and a peice of private property. There was a fire for about 1.5 hours. I believe everything had to be replaced, from the pole to the wires. This is a first offence for an ex-military guy. The lawyer and the arresting officer both have a good feeling about being able to drop the DWI to a DUI, but that is all I know because I care not to discuss this with my friend...but I am worried about him and wondering what could be in store. There was a lot of damage and utility workers worked for atleast a week to fix the area. The truck he was driving was fully insured...but it was not in his name. No one was injured.

This plumbing company came to my home, gave me an estimate to repair a broken water pipe outside the home at the curb. I signed a contract for almost $10,000.00 of work. When the plumber left the home to initiate the repair process, my husband, who is quite ill and hadn't heard what had been happening, explained to me that he had purchased insurance (without my knowledge) from our local gas company for gas and water-line repair from the street to the house. I immediately called the plumbing company & canceled the contract (the plumber had explicitly told me that I had 3 days in which to cancel the contract). They are now suing me for $350 + court costs, claiming that it cost them that much between the time the guy left my house & the time I called to cancel. This is the second summons: I showed up at the first one in July, and no one from the plumbing company showed up. The second summons appeared at my door yesterday, delivered by the County Sherriff.

My brother is screwing over the mother of his children. She is a nurse and makes okay money but not enough to provide for them without support. She is currently making payments to a lawyer, but I wonder if it wouldn't be cheaper for her to go through IL state agency and fill out the apps through them. Is there a benefit to going through a lawyer - can he/she maybe get a larger child support amount? I really want to help her out, as she is going to lose her house without the money.

"Mr. Bush

I cannot in good conscience call you my 'President'. That undeserved and unearned degree of respect would stick in my throat like warm vomit. - I respect the title, but do not respect you NO decent American does. You are not only a disgrace to your high office, but a debasement to the dreams of our Founding Fathers. Your conduct is untrustworthy traitorous and treacherous to the good people of this country. You can forget the predictable disrespectful letter nonsense. "

He goes on to write, "...You have worked VERY diligently to posture yourself as the anti-Christ as I cannot imagine any world leader more evil and deceiving."

Last week, it was learned that DNA testing arranged by the prosecution at a private laboratory found genetic material from several men on the stripper's underwear and body, but that none of it came from the players.

"The reality is, what else could the DA do?" said Stan Goldman, who teaches criminal law at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. "Once the DNA evidence came out last week, I can't imagine how they could sustain a rape charge."

But Wendy Murphy, a former prosecutor who teaches at the New England School of Law, said the decision could actually help Nifong by keeping any discussion about the results of the DNA testing away from the jury.

"It may be that this is a strategic move to insulate the trial itself from a sideshow that certainly would have overwhelmed all the other evidence," Murphy said. "A sideshow about her sex life."

What more do we need to know? She is a lying, drunken whore. DROP THE CASE!

After getting caught(by another neighbor) sneaking around in the dark on his property perusing others homes it was made known to all in the area. This guy now has installed cameras on both ends of his house that he controls from inside his home. I have a teenage daughter whose bedroom faces the street and his house. She is very scared knowing this. Is there any laws to protect people from prying eyes with cameras? This is very uncomfortable for the family.
