When in other countries if a fixed penalty is issued very rarely is there a complaint here it is:
The Policeman didn't have anything better to do
The Camera should not have been there
There was no sign to say I couldn't
I was only in there 5 mins
I was only doing 4 miles over the limit
The supermarket make it so easy
He shouldn't have left it there
There was nothing else to do
Most real criminals have a saying:
"If you cant accept the time don't commit the crime'
GET REAL !!

Yes I have lived abroad on HM service
In most of the Far East, USA, most of Europe etc.
I think the correct answe is as stated
'Personal responsibility for our own actions'
Not always trying to look for excuses and blame.

It's because most people here are unable to accept responsibility for their own actions. To them, anything that goes wrong is someone else's fault, or the result of someone else's negligence.

No, its the same every where, I live in Switzerland and our local meter maid is the most unpopular person in the world, she must have been cloned as it does not matter where YOU are SHE is just around the corner, if you leave a car for 10 seconds you have a ticket, she will even give you a ticket if she thinks you will still be there after your time has run out, I got one 15 minutes before the time was up, I got it squashed, but I was lucky.

because other countries can't drive. They drive on the wrong side, anyway, so deserve a ticket. And they drive foreign cars. And they often stick lots of beads and gonks on the windscreen.
So they deserve a ticket.
Here in the UK, we drive in a law-abiding considerate fashion, never speeding or stopping on double-yellow lines. We doff our caps at ladies crossing the road, and never hoot at others.
Therefore we cannot possibly have incurred a ticket so it must be someone else-s fault.

This is rubbish and you need to stop making such ridiculous and unrealistic sweeping statements. My relation contested a speeding ticket in Ireland and almost got away with it but then the Garde threw some legal jargon back to counter his argument - so no he didn't just 'accept' the ticket. However he did just accept it when he got caught jumping a red light in UK(outside a police station of all places). (Don't know what he was thinking.)
Out of interest, have you ever actually been abroad and been put in the situation that you are asking us all about?

Ya thats the problem with society today, 'it's everybody's fault by mine'. No one has personal responsibility anymore and everyone always looks for the easy way out. Bring back corporal punishment i say!

It's the old British Empire mentality still running through the veins...almost saying 'How dare they?' ... it's about time a lot of people in this country realised they are not superior to the rest of the world...if you can't pay the fine don't do the crime

~Are you sure there are no complaints in other countries? I'm not. Sometimes it ISN'T our fault.
You are generalizing way too much, it's everywhere, in ALL COUNTRIES, that's real.
You have the most excuses by far, check out your list!~

I totally agree with you. If you don't want to get caught, don't do it. And don't moan about it when you do get caught.
