...or if I change my license plate?

I went to the parking violations office to pay a ticket that I got the other day and found out that I have like five tickets that I didn't even know about and the fines have been doubled. I'm a student and can't afford this crap, so is there anyway I can get out of paying these... or at least the late fee's? I didn't know they even existed, I never found anything on my car and I recieved nothing in the mail. Anyone have any advice? or should I just bend over and take it...

There have been many cases of phantom tickets where parking wardens issue new tickets based on data of older ones -- usually because their pay depends on issuing tickets. Usually the only way to get out of such a ticket is to prove your car was not in the jurisdiction at the time the ticket was issued.

More often some nasty person throws away a ticket lawfully issued.

You may be able to get the extra penalties waived, but you would have to provide convincing proof of meddling with the ticket, and that you didn't know it was issued.

Disposing of your car will not remove your liability for the tickets, nor hide your identity, although combined with a change of address out of state it might -- unless your registration is collated with your driving license -- hinder prosecution. Many people register their cars in the name of a corporation or LLC to avoid personal liability for parking tickets. That may or may not increase your insurance premiums, since the insurance company loses some control over who drives the car under the policy.

HA HA HA thanks for the laugh, after a long shift on the job I needed it! No, selling your car or getting new plates will not make your parking tickets disappear! If it was that easy everyone would be doing it.

Pay your tickets and don't park in areas where parking is prohibited anymore! Even though the tickets are issued to your car, it's the registered owner of the car and plates that are actually being cited.

To avoid this problem in the future ... park where it's legal and feed the meter when there is one. Don't lend your car to anyone, the parking tickets they get are YOURS! The police won't know you loaned your car to your buddy, they will only know that your car, with your license plates is illegally parked!

Honestly, if you were talking about a private company you would have some way of maneuvering to at least minimize the damage. But, I have been a paralegal for 10 years, and I honestly believe your best bet is to network among your friends, find an attorney that will do you a favor. Most attorneys have connections with the District Attorneys' Office; however, if your parking tickets are only like $10 a piece...........(please say they weren't in a handicapped parking spot)...........then just take it like a man and bend over and get your ******* and do not get another one.

hi there parking tickets are bad points off your license the only way out is to see a judge maybe u can make a deal . see if they can stop the late fees and let you paid monthly payments. also do not led your car to anyone maybe u did and that person gave your name to the ticket officer. it can happened it happened to my daughter her Friend gave my daughter's name when she was stop now my daughter is paying for tickets she does not know. you can always get the officer that sever the tickets to come to court and let him or she figure out if u was that person , another way to beat a ticket if you know a police officer they have good inside contacts to get rid of tickets . good luck happy holidays god bless

have you let anyone else use your car? could that be the reason for the tickets? but however, no selling your car does nothing...the tickets are to YOU not the car, and i dont think you can contest them. if you did lend someone your car and they got the tickets and didnt tell you, then beat them and make them pay for it...otherwise, take some lube to the parking violations office..oh and knee pads..you will want those too.

~On the parking tickets, there should be an address you can write to explaining the fact you didn't get the tickets and nothing in the mail, and ask the late fee's to be waived, and perhaps a payment plan.
You should do this as early as possible, before your license is suspended.
Good luck and Merry Christmas~

you're to blame for the tickets. The value tag is going to whomever the automobile is registered to on the time the value tag is issued. promoting the automobile in no way gets you out of a cost tag. your guy or woman information replaced into already demonstrated via the police branch and your license would be suspended in case you do no longer guard this. the recent proprietor isn't to blame on your errors.

Simple answer--yes. Your tickets follow the person, not the vehicle so they are only attached to you. Sorry, but see if you can talk them into knocking down the amount. Just ask, sometimes they will if you seem polite and well-mannered.

Yes you will still have to pay them, regardless what car you are driving. If you go in and talk to them--being really nice about it.
They should let you work out a payment plan,
good luck

You can bet on it. Your name is on the tickets and as long as you keep your name they will follow you to the moon. The way to beat these tickets is to move out of state...maybe to Alaska?
