A 27 year old man was recently sentenced to 150 1/2 years in prison for kidnapping and r aping a 17yr old girl in New Hampshire.

Do you think the sentence is a good one? Does your local law enforcement treat sex offenders this harshly?
I am curious about what the sentence would have been in other states.
PS I am also curious why I have posted 2 other versions of this question and have not seen them posted

Rudolph-- I fully intend to stay out of California and in a state where cold blooded sexual predators are locked up. For the record, I am not a pervert and this question was NOT meant to imply any support for the convicted rapist.

The average murder serves only 14 years in prison in the USA.
If we take that as the standard, then this jail sentence isn't appropriate.
However, this article doesn't have info on this guy's background, previous offenses, etc. If the guy was a certified sexual predator, most judges would do everything in their power to keep them out of the population for as long as possible.
I still find it difficult to believe that this sentence won't be modified on review.
I'm also wondering why this guy didn't take a plea deal.

The sentence does seem a bit harsh, so was the crime! You neglect to mention that this defendant has a prior rape conviction of his own girlfriend, and 8 other suspected rapes. IF our penal system were allowed to truly rehabilitate offenders, or IF this young man had shown some remorse, the outcome may have been different. It is impossible to judge what went on in the mind of this judge without having heard the entire trial.

In California we're trying to pass a law that will make child molestation a capital offense, so stay where you're at and don't come here we don't want anymore perverts!!!!!

That really is enough jail time!!
It's just a way to make sure you don't enjoy your life for as long as you live. Who lives to 150.5 years old?
