I was assaulted a few months ago (a guy stole a kiss from me without my permission). This morning, he pulled a knife on me to get back a stuffed animal that was not his, nor had anything to do with him. My family intends to prosecute. How do I cope with the fear that he could kill me?

I am about to take my daughters deadbeat dad to court over Child Support Payments as I suspect he is purposefully hiding his income to reduce his liability to the rediculous amount of $60.00 per month. For the last 10 years his income has been on average $50-$60k, resulting in Child Support Payments of $800 per month. I know that he is not earning only $18k per year as he claims as he could not afford his home, cars, business/factory etc, and suspect his wife, who works with him in their business is taking home most of the money in her name. Will a court rule a back payment if he is found guilty? My solicitor is seeking a full disclosure of the business, and both he and his wifes incomes/tax returns. Also, if his books do not show evidence of foul play, would his many assets and lifestyle be considered, as these certainly do not represent a wage of $18,000?

How far do these rights go?

If a biggot doesn't want blacks in his place of business, does he have a right to refuse them?

I obviously think it would be very immoral to do such a thing, but what does the law SPECIFICALLY say?

And I know this would ultimately be a bad business decision. (I would not do business with such a company) but would it be legal?

I know some institutions charge you for a copy of your medical record. I want to know if there is a law stating the max amount allowed to charge a patient if they were to ask for a copy of their medical record. I ask this because I want to get a copy of my dental record and I don't want to be "scammed" into paying $10 per page (that was just an example). Thanks.

The landowners were promised a sum of money and a plot as compensation. The compansation money was paid but plots are not delivered inspite of lapse of 2/3years. Can I sue for recovery of my land as BDA failed to compansate me.

One of my favorite lines by Robert Service is "A promise made is a debt unpaid."

If you can name the poem, you can consider yourself awarded a paper star, like in grade-school.

My mom and my step dad have declared bankruptcy one or two times in the last 10 years. My older brother now lives with them because his health hasn't been so great for some time. Needless to say their credit isn't so good after filing for bankruptcys. Now I hear the bank has gone to foreclose their home and they say to us, their adult children that they have their lawyer working on it but don't tell us much else. My parents havent made such great choices about their money in the past so we are pretty skeptical. Not only that a majior reason why they are in this finacial hell is because my step dad fell for an internet e-mail scam. I and my brother am trying to help them as much as we can with our own practical smarts but they haven't told us any details so far. From what we gather my parents could be housless come Febuary. What can be done to help them legally and, or what would you do about all this?

New year last year I had drank a lot... too much. I passed out on the floor next to a bunch of friends and the next morning I woke up and a guy I hadn't seen since high school was trying to undo my bra and had his hand down my pants. There was no digital penetration. But he was as close as you can come before that. Is this sexual assault? I just tried to laugh it off as him being extremely drunk still and it just being one of those things that happens.

There is a big controversy over music downloading. Some people see peer-to-peer sharing as illegal. I can see why they say that, but i am supposed to be having a debate where i support that music downloading. I am not talking about the ethics behind music downloading, but only the legality. What are some facts or arguments i can make to back up my argument that music downloading and peer-to-peer sharing should be legalized?

I took out a loan for $1,200 for a relative with the promise that they would pay the bill. They let the bill lapse and now it is almost $10,000. I was sued by the company and was told to submit a response. I responded and told them how I tried to set up payment arrangements but the creditor would only agree to $500 a month vs. the $150 I was able to pay. I contacted the court and was told that a hearing for payment scheduling was set up. Two days before the hearing, my creditors lawyer contacts me and tells me that he cannot make it to court and wants to act as an intermediary between me and the creditor. He said that he would send me a letter that he wants me to return to him with my pay stub and monthly expenses. And that "we" will come up with a monthly payment that I can afford and he will take it to my creditor for approval. He told me that I did need to go to court, because they only want to know if I'm disputing the debt. And that the creditor may not agree to me paying them.

I purchased an item on Ebay about 9 months back where I received a diamond ring that was supposed to be of a certain clarity and quality. When the item was received, the item was clearly not of the clarity and quality stated in the auction. When I tried to get a refund, the seller gave me the run around and eventually deleted their e-mail accounts so I could no longer speak with them. Now I'm out $6500 with no options (that I can think of). I'm from CA and they were from NC, is there any legal action I can take? If so, who would I go about contacting to try and get my money back?
