I was assaulted a few months ago (a guy stole a kiss from me without my permission). This morning, he pulled a knife on me to get back a stuffed animal that was not his, nor had anything to do with him. My family intends to prosecute. How do I cope with the fear that he could kill me?

Make an affidavit complaint narrating the details of the two incidents. Take the statements of witnesses if any. Then file the complaint of Malicious Mischief and Threats against the suspect with the Prosecutor's Office so that he will be subpoenaed for preliminary investigation. If found to have committed the said offenses, the case will be filed in court for trial. Be courageous on this matter.

This might sound crazy, but show him that you are MORE insane than he is, or let him know that if anything happens to you he will be "dealt with". Look him straight in the eye with a deadly serious expression on your face, ice cold, when you do this. It would help to be pointing a loaded shotgun at him when you do this, but perhaps some of your beefier male friends could inform to back off or he will have some unexpected health care expenses. Protect yourself - lock your doors, be cautious, but don't let the creep win. Good luck.

Take a self defense class. That way, if he does strike, you will be prepared and won't be scared all of the time.
