It was all a political scheme to sway unknowledgeable voters in his direction; and sadly it worked. I come from an area where many based their election decisions based on "moral values" instead of actual viable legislative and economical values. It's gut-wrenching to hear that voters decisions were made based on the idea that "Bush is against abortion." Yes, he may personally be against it (although there is tremendous evidence that he "encouraged" a female partner to receive one years ago), but he will do nothing to stop it.

Has any changes been made toward abortion? No. It was simply a political front, which sadly, dominate our elections these days.

Nothing is going to be done to change abortion right simply because of why it was legalized in the first place. Young girls were dying in backstreet abortions and lawbreakers were getting away with what they were doing. Personally agree with abortion or don't, but please don't simply base your political decisions on fronts.

My friend allowed her car to be voluntarily repossessed. The finance company has had her wages garnished for $7,000 and she only owed $3000 on the car. If they haven't sold the car, it appears they haven't from the amount, shouldn't the car be returned to her since she is paying for it? Also, can they take her income tax return?

I have been with my boyfriend for over 5 years, we have two children and for our own reasons, do not wish to be legally married. I stay home with the kids and he works. We found out that the company he works for now offers partner benefits. When he went to sign me up, they told him, "I'm sorry this is for gay couples only"!!!!! You have got to be kidding me! Does anyone think that discrimination is happening to regular folks now?

I am in the process of filling out a petition for a emancipation. I am of legal age and everything to be emancipated in my state, MI, but I have a few questions. So Here it goes:

1. Can i get my drivers license? The reason I have not received one yet is because the parent I was living with was very controlling and would not allow it. I have recently taken drivers education where I am now living, but the 6months that you have to wait between Drivers Ed., and actually obtaing your license has not yet lapsed. Therfore since emacipation grants you the power to ascertain the same privledges as someone who is an adult, would the power of emancipation waive those remaining months.

2. After emancipation, would I be able to sue my mother for abandonment (e.g financial aid) since she kicked me out of the house, and for abandonment of me when i was younger? (she left when I was 2 w/o notice to my father, and when i was 14 she came back into my life? i am now 16, soon to be 17)

Thanks!!:)

I have created this hypothetical situation, in which there may be more than one answer. What do you think the answer is?

Suppose that a television set manufacturer wanted to use a photograph of Charles Van Doren in national magazine ads for its products with a caption that said, "You watched him on our TV sets in the 1950's. You're watching today's heroes on our TV sets now. Fifty years from now, you'll still be watching our sets. Quality: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow."

Could the manufacturer do so without Van Doren';s consent, or would his consent be necessary? Why?

Charles Van Doren was a central figure in the quiz show scandal of the 1950's because he was one of the best liked and most successful contestants on the show "21", and because he lied to the public and a grand jury by falsely denying that he had been given answers in advance, Eventually, at a Congressional hearing, Van Doren admitted that he had lied; therefore he was fired by Columbia University (where he had been teaching English). He dropped out of the public eye completely, and he spent the rest of his career working as an editor for Encyclopedia Britannica. A Robert Redford directed movie, "Quiz Show", was essentially a dramatization of Van Doren's story.

If the producers of "Quiz Show" had asked you whether Charles Van Doren's consent had to be obtained before the movie was released, what would you have advised? Why?

Why is ok for them to put all of these commercials for alcohol on t.v. and ban people for smoking because second hand smoke might kill their kids? Well, to me if someone gets out in a car and drives while drunk they might just kill a kid in a car accident. I am not against alcohol - I just don't see why it is ok to drink and get SHlT faced drunk but if you smoke you are hurting their pretty little health.

ok, so my ex wants me to pay for half of his travel expenses to come see his daughter, which I think is crazy. Not only that but he insists on having her take his last name, which will only lead to mockery as is name sounds like a food. He says that if I don't change her name she won't have any claim to any of his estate. He has seen this gorgeous little girl 3 times, less than a week each, and she is 18 months old... Is there any legal basis to changing her last name?
