Why is ok for them to put all of these commercials for alcohol on t.v. and ban people for smoking because second hand smoke might kill their kids? Well, to me if someone gets out in a car and drives while drunk they might just kill a kid in a car accident. I am not against alcohol - I just don't see why it is ok to drink and get SHlT faced drunk but if you smoke you are hurting their pretty little health.

I AM A NON SMOKER BUT I BELIEVE THAT SMOKERS ARE BEING UNFAIRLY TARGETED BY THE GOVERNMENT. THE PRICE OF CIGARETTES IN NYC IS ABOUT $7.50 PER PACK. THIS HAS CREATED A BLACK MARKET FOR CIGARETTES. YOU CAN BUY CIGARETTES IN THE STREET FOR $5.00 PER PACK OR $40.00 PER CARTON. THEY ARE BEING SOLD BY CRIMINALS AND OLD LADY'S ALIKE. IT'S A SHAME BUT NO ONE IS GOING TO BAT FOR THE SMOKER. I THOUGH WE LIVED IN A FREE COUNTRY.

I think smoking and drinking and driving are both equally targeted as behaviours that need to stop. The bad reputation you would get as a drunk driver turns most people off of it and i know in my community even your friends will tell you not to. Also because it is illegal to drink and drive, the justice system can take care of those people that drink and drive without having to rehabilitate them (usually) however, only now is society beginning to see the negative aspects of smoking, which include a strain on the health care system that could be costing others in taxes, environmental issues and the harm related to children

We all know it's bad for us, but we put aside responsibility for our own health while risking the health of anyone close enough to breathe the fumes as well. It's good if the non-smokers keep attempting to get us in focus.

That said, smoking as well as drinking is legal in certain places and it's most certainly illegal to drink and drive. Both smoking and drinking alchohol are addictive and while drinking in moderation isn't unhealthy for most people, smokers exhale the smoke for others to breathe while drinkers have no physical effect on people around them ... except for their obvious changes in behaviour which can get quite annoying.

I hope non-smokers stop complaining ....

when it's had the necessary effect on us dummies.

I personally don't like to smoke and walk at the same time but I don't think it looks trashy to do so. I can definitely see your point that it's more efficient to smoke and walk at the same time. People who are turned off by smoking are not going to like it no matter what you're doing. You said you don't care how people perceive your smoking habits. Well, you must care on some level or you wouldn't have posted this question, no offense.

Well that is why drinking and drivng is illegal! Furthermore, there is no BAN on smoking. You can smoke all you want, you just can't do it in a public establishment in most states. That analogy makes no sense whatsoever.

Dude, I don't know... But I can't stand it when someone comes up to me and comments on my smoking...

I wanna punch them and be like "Ok... Would you rather me throw a couple lines on the table? Cuz this helps me not do that.."

It's my choice, if you don't like it... F*cking deal with it.

Or even when I drink for that matter..

Oh well. Not much of an answer, more of a vent, but good question babe..

The smoking campaign is an effort to stop 100k people a year from dying of cigarette smoking. Smoking is unhealthy, and while I do smoke, I also see the merit of what they're pushing for. I just hope they leave some designated smoking areas out there...

Typical smokers thought process....very very sad! I suggest you increase your smoken as to hasten your demise. Do it in a small non-ventilated room for maximum effect!
