it depends on what you did, your criminal history and what kind of mood the d.a. is in.

Anymore, I think the chances are fairly good. Why? Because more and more crime is being committed by juveniles and people are getting fed up. Alot will have to do with your attorney. If you have a good one, he can plead that this is your first offense or whatever and try to keep you in the juvenile system. If not...it's adult time and once your certified as an adult, then you remain certified which means if you are 14 and serve prison time till 15 then commit any other offense, it will be handled as an adult, period. The penalites differ from state to state and charge to charge. Go online and look up the statutes for your state such as "Ohio statutes", or New York statutes and then type in the name of the offense and it should tell you penalties. A felony is more serious than a misdemeanor and means more jail time. Bottom line, get a good lawyer, sounds like you need it.

I would suggest you get a good lawyer and not take one that is assigned to you. This could be a real tricky one. It will depend on alot of different things but the most important is have you been in any trouble before. Depending on if you have or to what level depends on how you are going to be tried. Another thing is they will decide if you are mature enough to know right from wrong when deciding how to try you. My guess is you do know since you have took the time to ask this question. Where did you distribted to meds at? School? This could be bad! I personal think that if you are a good kid and haven't got into any trouble probally not but who knows they could always make an example of you. It happens all the time. I know this isn't what you are wanting to hear but it is reality.
(Don't forgot to get a good lawyer) PS You sound like a smart kid...learn from this mistake and move on with your life and stay out of trouble.

since your so young they could throw the book at you, but if its a first offense then you have better chances. class b felony isnt that serious either. i have a class b felony and 2 other previous charges and i got probation for 2 years. so even if they charge you as an adult then you probably wont go to jail. i also know a lady who has a 14 year old son. that stole 2 cars and stole a gun and he got put in a boys home with a cell until he's 21. his parents can see him and call him and stuff though. that was a worse offense than yours. i wouldnt worry about it.

I know of cases where they have held off the court case until the juvenille is of age (17 in this country) so that they can be tried as an adult and sent straight to the big house. As you are only 14 I expect they will send you to juvenille detention if this is not your first offence or they are feeling nice that day. If you really want to go to school and have a life stop doing stupid things...cause obviously you are not a smart crim...you get caught.

Talk to your lawyer or public defender. Ask him what kind of penalties you face. Ask if there is a good chance of being found guilty. If it looks bad, ask about working out a deal with the prosecutor. Ask if you can be tried as a juvenile and if they are not willing to that, ask your lawyer for advice.

Try to keep this in juvenile court as much as possible. That way your record should be sealed and it will not screw up your life later on. I hope you learn your lesson and will stop doing illegal stuff.

If you do an adult crime you will most likely be tried as an adult, if it's something petty they'll send you to juvy. If you show evidence of premeditation, and complexity that will be held against ie a hate crime. Try to get your lawyer to fight really hard to make sure you stay in a juvenile court.

*sighs* Calm down, honey, it will be ok.

My kids got in trouble when they were your age...and my daughter at 18. They were all charged as juveniles. I don't know what state you are in but this was in Alabama. The only times I've ever seen a child your age or even an 18 year old tried as an adult was for murder. AND....I know kids who distributed MUCH worse drugs than antibiotics, they still were tried as juveniles, even a 19 year old who was distributing hard-core drugs.

If you have supportive parents, (mine have ME), they should help you. I wrote a letter for my 18 year old daughter who was caught shoplifting 9 dollars worth of stuff. The judge was ready to throw the book at her...but the DA read my letter. It helped that she had never been in trouble before (that's important, I hope you've not been in trouble before), she graduated with honors and a scholarship...and she was a troubled kid due to an abusive father. If I had to, I could have gotten references from school teachers and other adults. You can do that too.

My son was your age when he got in trouble...several times. I worked with the authorities because he was unmanagable after living with his father for a brief time. I chose to have him sent off after several incidents, but it was all a function of things his dad had done to him. In all those incidents, he was NEVER tried as an adult...and I chose his punishment and asked for it to be carried out. He went to boot camp - my choice.

Just be polite, show yourself well, be neat and clean, say yes sir, no sir or yes ma'am, no ma'am, that sort of thing. Be very AWARE, as my children are now, that you will wind up being on probation probably for a couple of years...and ANY little breaking of that probation WILL get you sent away to juvie.

Probation just means that you cannot be out at night after a certain time, you have to do what your parents tell you and behave yourself, you cannot get in any kind of trouble at all. Even getting in trouble at school will break your probation.

If you want to finish high school, get an education, NOT go to jail...be good. Go to school every day. Be polite. Think of it like this...if you had a son your age, would you want him to do ________(fill in the blank).

There is always hope. And if you believe, you can BE, just believe and have faith. And...tell the judge and the DA if they will let you that you want to grow up and BE...and this is not who you are or who you want to be.

I'll pray for you to get a caring judge, as my son had, and will have support and possibly even letters from the adults in your life.

Take care of you...and don't worry for now, worry just gives you ulcers and accomplishes nothing.
