In general, could someone who broke lease and left a rental house 4 months early take a roommate to court over a energy bill which is in the persons name who broke the lease?

I was unable to get the bill out of this persons name because there was a balance on the account and there were other people living there which made the payment complicated.

Today I helped my grandmother packing for a vaction she was taking and she put a lock on her luggage and I told her not to because airport securtiry will either break the lock or destroy the bag. After saying that though I thought of the fourth amendement, which protects citizens against searches without a warrant or probabal cause and I got to wondering, how is it that these searches which are conducted across the board on all passengers are considered legal?

It seems that the reason many people give for not making some things illegal is that these things are going to happen anyway. This doesn't make much sense to me....but what do you think?

You all saw the websites that says that there are laws like:
"The penalty for jumping off a building is death."
or
"A person may not walk around on Sundays with an ice cream cone in his/her pocket."
See e.g. http://www.dumblaws.com/

For some reason I believe that they are all B.S.

Can somebody provide me with a LEGAL citation for al least ONE such a law?

He left the dog in the house for 4 - 5 days at a time without being checked on. The dog urinated/deficated on the hardwood floors and carpeting and chewed on every piece of furniture in the house. Has cost me approximately $1,100 just in cleaning and hauling of destroyed furniture. Renter has abandoned the property and has left no forwarding addresss to which I should send his personal belongings. Do I have any recourse with respect to collecting on damages done to house ?
