Resistration is fairly straight forward. But removing one's self from the voter roles seems more obscure.

i live in a very safe area, yet, there are more and more police, and they seem to have taken on a military stance. they (lawmakers) seem to create endless laws for people to break, and i'm starting to suspect that this to support their ever growing budgets, and our beloved officers have become fund raisers.

Pres. Bush is a master of staying ahead of the times. He knows that Global Warming is going to happen but he can not let the people of the USA panic and stop the good economy.

He also knows that there is no way to stop people coming in from Mexico so he is coming up with a way to find out who is here and get them signed up so they will have to pay taxes.

Also, he knows that NUKES will be used in the future by some nations like Iran or North Korea so he has to keep fighting a NON-NUKE war again Islam until such time that he can move the troops over to the REAL NEEDED fight to destroy the Nukes in Iran. We must keep the troops close to be able to move into Iran.

Infantry are largely unprotected from hostility (as I understand it- feel free to correct me) and, even if hiding behind/ in cover, there's always the chance of a stray grenade or bullet- surely in a built-up environment they're still overlooked by windows and alleyways?

HOWEVER I would think that infantry is far more flexible- they can disappear, hide, split up, regroup etc etc.

A tank, on the other hand, is protected from nearly all small arms fire and, as far as I understand, has nothing to fear from gunfire or even smaller explosives. However, a tank is less likely to be able to hide or run away, and is extremely vulnerable to air attack.

Have I got this right? I'd appreciate some input. Thanks

Auto Execs Discuss Mileage With Congress
Wednesday June 6, 2:02 pm ET

Auto Execs Visit Congress to Try to Head Off Higher Fuel Economy Standards

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The heads of the domestic auto industry pressed congressional leaders Wednesday to revisit a plan to increase fuel efficiency standards that automakers say could hurt their industry.

the above is crap..they need to give us autos that get max mileage per gallon, it doesnt have to be all autos, but their should be a certain number available to the consumer.
also, its time for no more bs about other types of fuels we can use, the time is now to come up with something else.

This is in response to a recent question about "the anti-slavery party."

I've seen conservatives claim that, since the 1960s, the Democratic party has changed to the point where JFK would be ashamed to be associated with it. Yet this question seemed to insinuate that Republicans are still the same as they were during the Civil War.

So is that the universally accepted assertion - that Republicans haven't changed since the Civil War but Democrats have changed radically in the past 40 years?

If so, what is the evidence to back this up?

(For those who may not know, a pro bono attorney is one who is willing to fight your case without pay until you win it). Thanks again!

I am not being sarcastic, I am genuinely trying to learn about politics. I feel like it is my generation that is suffering from the politics of today (I'm 20-talking about foreign policy) and I want to make sure I am not "part of the voting apathy problem." But it's easier said than done because I don't understand things that seem like they should be easy answers.
I don't understand why "smaller" parties like the Libertarian party and the Green Party don't get fair representation in presidential races. I also don't understand why each party is only able to present one Presidential Candidate. And I also don't understand why if we only have two parties that the general population chooses from, why are they so alike lately?
And I would like to point out that I have researched Europe and they have several political parties across the spectrum that all get fair representation in the European government. If we are based off them why don't we?

Someone posted the following in answer to a question in this section:

"um, starr found quite a lot. the differenece between libby and clinton is that clinton has openly conceded that he lied whereas libby still holds that he cant remember a 3yr old conversation. and clinton actually lied about thigs that were criminal - libby, even if he did lie, wouldnt have been covering up any wrong doings.

i just wish he would have went after the white water scandals instead - then clinton really would have been up a creek and we wouldnt be worrying about hillary."

The assertion seems to be that "even if" Libby perjured himself (he was convicted of perjury; Bill Clinton was not), it's okay because he was lying about something insignificant, whereas Clinton's lies about his sex life were criminal.

Now, suddenly, the right wing is accepting the "subject matter" defense for perjury? For years, when liberals have said they don't care that Clinton lied because (more to come...)
