Heres the situation, the police respond to a domestic disturbance, a couple somewhat prone to such conflict. And during a search of their apartment find three marijuana joints in the husbands pants pocket. They reside in Arizona and he is looking at three years, apparently hes had afew non violent drug related convictions in California. Does this sound a bit extreme. And why were the police searching a pair of pants that were'nt even being worn ? Bear in mind this is intially a domestic dispute. Any info on this search and sentence length ??

On the way to work each morning I walk past this Romanian woman begging outside McDonalds (on Princes Street in Edinburgh). She seems to work in tandem with at least three other women & they take shifts to beg at different parts of the street.

My question is not intended to be racist as I believe anyone, from any EU country should be able to come to the UK if they have the skills to do a hard days work (my friends are Polish & one works in a bank, the other works for a local council).

What pisses me off is these beggars coming here. We've got enough beggars of our own in the UK without inviting in more. It annoys me that they are only doing this as they probably get more money begging here than they would in Bucharest or Sofia.

Romanian & Bulgarian beggars go home & come back with qualifications to do some decent hard days paid work.

The University of Michigan-Dearborn plans to spend $25,000 for foot-washing stations, making it easier for Muslim students to practice their religion but sparking questions about the separation of church and state.

The university claims the stations are needed to accommodate Muslim students, who must ritually wash their bodies -- including the feet -- up to five times each day before prayers. But critics hit conservative blogs and radio airwaves Monday to argue public money shouldn't cover the cost.

Is there any truth to the recent rumours that a surge in soldiers' protests on their conditions and the Iraq war in general have led the Pentagon to recently ban blogs and censor private emails?

I do find significant concern over the significance of such gestures as well as the possible ramifications of such potentially abusive actions from up-high but would like to hear your take on it.

I don't think that there are enough Mormons for them to get their guy in the White House. No, I don't think that Romney has a chance but his view on the issues is not disagreeable.

Like most Americans I wouldn't vote for a Mormon in the White House on principle but I see nothing wrong with him serving his country as a senator. But what do you think? Would Mitt Romney have to change his religion to win the election? If he converted to say, the Baptist church he would have a much better chance at the presidency.
