this is super embarrasing but i need to ask....when i was 17 i shoplifted from a retail story and I did some community service and that was it. I was wondering if that show up in my criminal record as a felony? I am seeking a new job at a bank and I am super afraid that would ruin it for me...TRUST ME I LEARNED MY LESSON.....(I live in IL)

Many thanks!

It could be a felony depending on the amount stolen. However, this offense was committed as a juvenile and is thus part of a sealed record which does not show up on your adult criminal record. You have no worries.

I would doubt it. Shoplifting is usually a petty misdemeanor theft unless it is something over a certain dollar amount (probably $500-1000). If you tried to take a pair of pants or a loaf of bread, it is probably not a felony.

Usually things like that, they dont really "put it on your record" when you're young. Unless you did it constantly or did a lot of things, I wouldnt worry about it.

generally no. When you do a felony they are talking about jail time.
