One hundred thousand dead. Numerous bomb blasts. 18 years of horror. Kashmir deserves freedom now, once and for all. The end of the Kashmir dispute would have major economical and international benefits for India and Pakistan. People are dieing because of this war every single day. We have to do something now.

The end of this war would have huge economical benefits for India. India and Pakistan spend 40% of their GNP (overall income) on the war. This money could get India and Pakistan clean water, electricity, health care, education, roads, better food, etc. All the money they spend on the war could be put to better use and end poverty in India and Pakistan.

The end of this war would also give India and Pakistan international benefits. India could become one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council if they resolved the Kashmir dispute according to the UN. This could be a perfect win-win situation, Kashmir could win its freedom and India would be a permanent m

"But what if illegal immigration continues as it has for three decades even if all the steps are taken and all the triggers are met?

“Then we'll know we haven't done enough,” said Sen. John Kyl, R-Ariz., a supporter of the compromise.

Meanwhile, critics argue, millions of probationary and green cards will have been given out. "

I think that the border security triggers are a joke, such as cutting the already enacted fence requirement in half and calling it security.

What do you think?

Or all of the actual videos of the Pentagon from nearby buildings and the VA DOT highway department?

Or the recovered black box transmissions in their entirety?

If there was no conspiracy and the official government version correlates with these pieces of evidence perfectly, what's to hide?

Like I said earlier, it's because she fell and was not graceful or poised enough. Stop making it an immigration issue!
Also many Mexicans felt that she was not pretty enough like Miss India or the others.

It was NOT an immigration issue. Stop treating it as such!
Many in the audience were rich, WHITE Mexicans that don't give a rat's behind about the immigration issues.
Yes, some Mexicans are racist, and some might not consider a black woman that pretty. But hey so are asians, indians, and even some blacks. I personally do not think she was pretty, not because she was Black, but because she had too much plastic surgery with her pinched Latoya Jackson nose.

Many Americans have become so traumatized from the constant announcements that the terrorists are coming to get us, that they are giving up their freedom for a false sense of security. Since those people agree with Bush they are called patriots, when in reality they more resemble paranoid schizos. The reality of this War on Terrorism is that people are being kept in a constant state of insecurity with false promises of security, which the security is never given so the cycle is perpetuated.

Come on people, they even set up a terror alert system. How gulliable are you?

I can remember a lot of really nasty areas that you would be afraid to drive thru, but the areas now are clean with the houses mostly being fixed up. Flowers planted on the side of the houses and just turning unto nice places. Anyone else notice anything like that? Obviously we need to do something about the huge wave of mexican illegals, but as a whole, their not too bad.

Dear Editor:

So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land is
made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should tear down
the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren't being
treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports
of entry.

Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like
Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of
immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of
Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand
in a long line in New York and be documented. Some would even get down on
their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the
laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made
learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some
even changed their names to blend in with their new home.

They had waved good bye to their birth place to give their children a
new life and did everything in their power to help their children
assimilate into one culture.

Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws
to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had
brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity. Most of their
children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought along
side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany , Italy , France
and Japan . None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought
about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans
fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan . They were defending
the United States of America as one people. When we liberated France , no
one in those villages were looking for the French-American or the German
American or the Irish American. The people of France saw only Americans.
And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those
immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another coun try's flag
and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to
their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly
knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one
red, white and blue bowl.

And here we are in 2007 with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same
rights and privileges Only they want to achieve it by playing with a
different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a
guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I'm sorry, that's not
what being an American is all about I believe that the immigrants who
landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's deserve better than that for all
the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a
land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better
life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example
by those waving foreign country flags.

And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty , it
happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration
bill I wouldn't start talking about dismantling the United States just yet.

The US had possessed electronic surveillance data mining programs capable of intercepting any electronic transmission or data stream from anywhere in the world for at least a decade prior to 911.

Echelon, and then Carnivore (developed in 1998), are the interception programs the US utilizes. They can "sniff" through literally millions of communications and can even reconstruct a web page view exactly as the user had viewed it. So for instance, if they had locked onto your communications they could reconstruct an identical copy of the page you're viewing now.

Even with encryption, the US was more than capable of monitoring and mining all of A-Q's electronic transmissions for several years before 911. They didn't need FBI field agents to do the legwork, they had the electronic capability already.

So isn't it a bit implausible that the US had no foreknowledge of the 911 plans?

Government money for treatment is harder to come by. The Bush administration's $12.7 billon drug-control budget request for 2007 earmarks 65% for interdiction and law enforcement and barely 35% for treatment and prevention. A National Center for Addiction and Substance Abuse report found that, of the $277 that each American paid on average in state taxes to deal with substance abuse and addiction in 1998, only $10 went toward treatment and prevention.
