Many Americans have become so traumatized from the constant announcements that the terrorists are coming to get us, that they are giving up their freedom for a false sense of security. Since those people agree with Bush they are called patriots, when in reality they more resemble paranoid schizos. The reality of this War on Terrorism is that people are being kept in a constant state of insecurity with false promises of security, which the security is never given so the cycle is perpetuated.
Come on people, they even set up a terror alert system. How gulliable are you?

"Who are these americans you are speaking about? I am more concerned about the domestic terrorists who want to drive away investors and institute a redistribution of wealth.
I feel much more secure now than I did on 9/12/01."
The Americans that believe Bush and are afraid the terrorists are out to get us.
How do you feel safer than 9/12/01 when nothing has been done to prevent another 9/11. Waging a war in another country and erroding American rights has nothing to do with terrorism. People believe the above do have to do with combating terrorism, because that is what they have been told.

"And the terror alert system was created more for raising security at airports and in other places, not for the sole purpose of letting Americans now about it. You are seeing things from a solely negative perspective here."
No, you aren't seeing the big picture. Why make a terror alert system when one should call up specific place that is in danger of a potential terrorist attack. Why give the terrorists a heads up? Why take a chance at causing hysteria in the populace? The purpose of the terror alert system creates a constant state of paranoia that the terrorists are out to get us. How do you identify a terrorist? You can't. How long will it be before Americans start reporting each other as terrorists? Probably has already been happening.
Like you said, there will always be terrorists so why are we forfeiting our rights for a false sense of security? Terrorists will never vanish off this planet so why create an unwinable War on Terrorism?

"For those of us who've escaped Islam (my family in the 1950s), it's you who appear gullible. We've been expecting this war for decades, but we didn't expect the West would wake up in time (it still may not have).
Islam's goals are public and clear, and STILL people say, "There is no terrorist threat."
They are right. It isn't from terrorists. It's from Islam as a whole. Terrorism is just one method they are using."
So the War on Terrorism is a crusade? Christianity is as much a threat as Islam. Both religions have extremists that commit acts of terrorism. The extremists do not represent the religion.

"Yes, they believe voting Republican will keep you safe."
Maybe. Neither party can provide safety, yet both preach they can give safety to Americans. Both parties are taking advantage of Americans by exploiting the fears that have been instilled in their minds. How can they provide safety when there is no threat, yet they make it out to be the imaginary threat is imminent and if Americans vote for the wrong party then America is doomed.

.......ok. Hey I am hardly paranoid, and people need to understand that we are technically always under a threat of a terrorist attack. Just about everyone in America can decide to do a act of terror on a drop of a dime, saying that we are not under threats from terrorist would be a lie, and so would saying that everything will be just fine and dandy. We live in a world of sin, and stuff like this will continue to happen until things are restored.
And the terror alert system was created more for raising security at airports and in other places, not for the sole purpose of letting Americans know about it. You are seeing things from a solely negative perspective here. And I am not 100% sure where you are going with people giving their freedom for false security.

Oh, and as a democrat, I agree. Disagreement, dissent, and protest can all be done patriotically, but many of my party don't know the difference between legitimate/patriotic dissent vs. sedition. It's contemptible. These people are no better in behavior than those who treated Former President Clinton so poorly for political purposes.
I'm not gullible at all. I've read the Quran. I've known about their goals for a long time. I'm familiar with the political realities involved (father was in the Treasury Department and C.I.A, mother in the United Nations).
I'm not traumatized, just a little stunned at the lemming-like behavior of those who want to think the best of people who have repeatedly called for the death of America and it's people.
I can always convert and pass for Islamic.
Tough for the rest of you.

I think actual fear of terrorism runs pretty low, for the most part. There was an initial surge of 'patriotism' immediately following 9/11, but it's died down by now. The issues raised by 9/11 - who hates America, why, and what are we going to do about it - have been whittled down to partisan talking points for use as ammunition by the Democrats & Republicans, who have no compunction about watching America fall apart, as long as they get to rule over the smoking ruins.

Traumatized paranoid gullible people think the government is taking all of our freedoms away. I have more fear of a liberal trying to hold it together and not become a loose cannon than I do of terrorism.

the sad part is that it is our very own government that has traumatized these people. The latest one about them following us home from Iraq if we end the war now is so ridiculous , it is almost funny.
as for me. I do not fear the terrorists at all. I have a 30,000 times more chance of dying by heart disease.

You're so right. So many terrorized people in this country who'll give up their freedom for "security". This is the age where are government is seeking to control us even more. You now have people volunteering to have chips implanted in them to make them "safer". What a joke. It's a shame they don't realize their just guinea pigs for the new world order. It's time to wake up and smell the coffee people.

yeah the government really does a lot to try to make the country safe and secure. but whatever im not traumatized. nobody really is but people will complain if nothing is done about so that's why things are as bad as it is, and the fact that terrorism could happen again. I'm not paranoid and nobody really seems to be paranoid about that that i know of.

I completely agree. We live in a country with people who are constantly terrified that we're going to be attacked thanks to the government and the news media. Because people are so fearful they're more willing to accept and support what our President says. The Bush Administration used our post-9/11 fears to gain support for the war in Iraq when it first began and it worked. We are easily controlled by our fears and unfortunately most people don't get information outside of Fox News or CNN so they believe terrorists are constantly out to get us which causes them to live in a state of worry.
