I suppose if two developed nations were to declare war on eachother, they might fight a war like that.
Asymetric conflicts, though, are fought with AK-47s, IEDs, and propaganda.

Young Americans have sharper minds and you still
need people to go on counter intelligence missions, load the smart bombs onto aircraft and
work on the satellite systems to make sure communications is good with them!!!

Some one has to run the satellites and the smart bombs and run the counter Intelligence aspect. They also need a well equipped Infantry.

Technology is a tool and can never replace human judgment. A robot can shoot, but not decide if it the right time or not. We recruit young men and women because we already have older ones with the experience to lead. We need to replace the new guys as they move up and become the leadership and us old guys in leadership roles move on to retirement. Picture a conveyor belt. Won't work if you start building the car in the paint booth. You start with raw materials and build what you need from them. You kids don't fool yourselves with this technical superiority stuff, I can reconstruct a satellite com system down to discrete components (that's tech talk for resisters and transistors and stuff), qualified to solder under a microscope on mini/micro-electronics. All that and still fire my side arm, rifle, or shotgun accurately while at a run (and run my 2 mile in under 13:00). Find me a kid coming out of high school who can match that as well as have the experience to bring my team down range and home again in one piece. What we need is some one who can start learning to do that because I am getting tired and I have to retire soon (I started doing this in 1990 am up to my 3rd surgical repair and getting ready to get my next one so my knee will keep working. I am getting to old for this stuff). Kids don't fool yourselves, you aren't smarter, faster and stronger, you just have the potential to reach this level if you have the discipline to stick with it.
God bless you old war horses.

Because someone still has to go and work those Satellites, and have to be trained to. People have to be trained specifically to make those smart bombs. We have to have people in Counter intelligence in order to have counter intelligence. And its been proven, younger minds are easier to mold and absorb information than it is say a 40 year old.

it quite is real that satellites, smart bombs, computers, & distant missiles are significant in cutting-area war. even with the shown fact that, foot soldier troops are nevertheless considered needed to the top interest. There has in no way been a warfare won without some floor troops having the flexibility to shield a actual geographic section.

all that stuff give us info on the battlefield. but just what is the battlefield anymore. this isn't "Command and Conquer" clearly defined battlefields, clearly defined enemies. you may be on patrol in the middle of a heavy populated area and a kid in a long robe runs out in front of your Humvee and stops. do you stop? what if he has a bomb, or an RPG (bazooka for you non military types)? do you run him over? what if he was just chasing a ball? no satellite in the world can tell you that. and no satellite in the world can locate insurgents moving from building to building in the city, under the disguise that they are just normal citizens only to get close to a patrol and blow themselves up or ambush them. NOTHING can replace a trained American soldier on a mission.

Because your best intelligence is always on the ground. You can't see through a building from a satellite. You need people on the ground to exactly find out what is going on. That is the way it's always going to be. (Unless hey invent some cyborg soldier....scary thought there)

Because "Young Americans" cost less than satellites, Smart Bombs & Counter intelligence.
All wars are fought for profit.

How is your sat and your smart bomb supposed to stop a guy sneaking into someone's house at night with an AK to do some sectarian killing?

Smart weapons are useless unless smart people are firing them. Without boots on the ground to hold what you just fought for, you're just blowing stuff up for the fun of it.
