Performing any medical procedure that requires a license, if you are not a licensed practitioner, is illegal. You can't take out your own appendix, you can't perform your own abortion. And no, doctors can't do their own abortions either.

I don't know but why would you want to do it yourself? There are plenty of doctors to service you. You can even go online to get abortion funds to help you in this time of need. You don't have to cook a hamburger when you can to Mc Donald's. That's what I'm talking about.

For the same reason that it's unlawful for you to kill yourself. In part, it's legislated morality. In part, it's because the State, as parens patriae, has an interest in preserving human life. Even Roe v. Wade recognized that there are competing interests, and this interest-in-taxpayers' lives is one of the factors.

Where is self-performed abortion illegal? No where that I know of (within the U.S., anyway)...It's hard to prove, thus difficult to enforce. Those types of things tend not to be illegal.

It is illegal because of the risk of death to the mother. It has nothing to do with the risk to the fetus. The mother can pierce her own uterus and die, which is a very painful death, and often is NOT a quick one.
