Not too long ago, scientists were saying that global warming would produce more hurricanes. Now they're saying it will produce less hurricanes.

What are they going discover next: That global warming is a natural occuring event?

FACT: The only one on the campus (besides the police, who did nothing) in VA Tech who had a gun was a criminally insane individual.

FACT: The law abiding had no guns.

Do not rely on the police. There job is not to protect and serve. There job is to investigate AFTER the shooting.

This is for people who actually support the man running the United States of America. I know of many reasons that he shouldn't be supported, yet whenever I've run across someone who does...they're never able to tell me a good reason why they do. So, if possible, can anyone tell me why?

Please describe issues that you think we can come together on and how. America needs to have a united front and it's time that we stop fighting amongst ourselves and start looking for real solutions.
Please, keep it mature and no personal attacks.

I belive the security of the nation should be of paramount importance to the government and anyone applying for assylum or an immigation visa should apply to the embassy in their country of origin.
No foreign national should be allowed in without a current visa and they should be warned that if they overstay their visa they WILL be arrested and deported to their country of origin, without the right of appeal. They will in fact be placed on the next available flight.
This country has enough internal problems without adding illegal immigration to the pot.
I did not agree with many of the white South African government but I did, and still do, agree with their insistance that all immigrants speak the national language before emigrating, thus ensuring they could understand and be understood in most situations. Surely this is just common curtesy.
If you do not like the way it is here clear off back where you came from, dont try to change the way our country is run.

I believe in the right to bear arms but I also believe in gun control. I have many friends who love guns and every time I say something about needed gun control they reply it is their right which I don't deny but you don't need a 9mm or M-16 to go deer hunting and it is proven that someone who has a hand-gun for protection is more likely to be shot with their own gun than to shoot someone who is attacking them. I also recognize that our constitution gave us the right to bear arms to protect ourselves from the government and not waiving them around every place we go. I think the first step would be for routine gun inspections, if you are going to own a gun you better take responsibility for it and know where it is at all times. GUNS DON'T KILL PEOPLE BUT PEOPLE WITH GUNS DO!

Before people make stupid comments or accuse me of trying to make light of the VT tragedy, let me say that is not the intent of my question. I have nothing but sympathy for the victimes and thier families.

After the US invaed Iraq, Rumsfeld in his infinite wisdom decided it would be a good idea to let each Iraqi keep one firearm. Had we taken all thier firearms would things in Iraq be as bleek as they are now?

And I'm not a liberal so don't think about calling me one either.

I've always heard the argument that people need guns to 'protect themselves'. Yet, unless you're alert 24 hours a day, gun loaded and at the ready, waiting for a criminal to violate you or your property, how do you know that you'll be able to get to your gun in time to protect yourself? It's not like criminals call and make an appointment so that you'll be ready for them.

And, what about those people who have a gun for protection but who have it locked away to ensure its safety? Do they really think that the criminal is going to wait while they go and get their gun and load it to ensure a fair fight?

What about the situations that are escalated because both parties have a gun? If the criminal has a gun do you honestly think he's going to run because you have one too? Also, remember the criminal has the advantage, he's planned things out, he knows you're going to be victimized before you do...he's going to have the chance to shoot you before you shoot him.

Just curious...

Also at a news conference, Susan Dinsdale, whose son has served two tours of duty in Iraq, said, "I am begging the president to bring our troops home." Tears welled in her eyes as she added, "This war is senseless. I don't want our soldiers to feel like they have served in vain."

why wont he listen to the majority of people in this country in ending his fallacious war?

We are having this war on terror, yet terror is not a physical thing, or place. It cannot be done. When we fought the commies, we were at war with North Korea and Vietnam. When we fought the Nazi's, we were at war with Germany. We did not conduct a war on Nazi's. Terror is an abstraction. Terror is an action, not a place, or a person. So please tell me, how is it we are fighting a war on terror?

Wouldn't have killed himself and took hostages instead, and it came down to him holding a gun someones head and telling police if they don't let him leave he will shoot them, And all the while theirs a sharp shooter with a perfect shot to the guys head to take him out and save the innocent person.. What would you rather happen? Would you say it's o.k. for the Sharp shoter to kill him? Or would you want the cops to let the man leave?

This question is intended for those who want Guns banned all together! Not for those who want stritcter gun laws or who already support guns.. ONLY for the ones who want them gone completely.
