Yes, but kind of hard to kill 30 people in a row with a fork!

I am a member of the NRA. I have no Mr. Winky compensation issues I guarantee you that. I grew up on a ranch in the middle of nowhere Montana. All of us children where proficient marks man by age 14. We had to be, it was the only thing that kept coyotes and mountain lions from killing all the live stock. Rifles and hand guns were carried with us every time we walk or rode fence line. Lets not think for a minute that a one size fits all plan will work here folks because it wont.

I believe in the 2nd amendment and I'm a Libertarian. However, I do believe in some form of gun control to ensure that people don't abuse this right. The NRA doesn't want any gun control which bothers me. Also, men that obsess about their gun size does bother me because it seems they're trying to compensate something. I happen to agree with everything you said. I think if the government apply your thoughts this gun control issue would be resolved.

What are you compensating for?
I have a gun because it takes 20 to 45 minutes for police to respond to emergencies in my area.
My neighbor, 1/4 mile away stopped a home invasion using "HER" licensed .357 revolver. Bad guys saw the gun and fled. The threatened her and her daughter with rape. (Police took 30 minutes to respond to her 911 call.)
My farmer neighbor shot 2 of 6 wild dogs that were in his barn attacking cows and calves. The others fled but were hunted down.
For me, I'm a retired Police Officer and have witnessed dozens of cases where the home owner or citizen has defended their life and property without ever firing a shot and a few where they did.
With 5 kids one who too became a cop. I lack in NOTHING but you lack brains and comprehension.

you say "I also recognize that our constitution gave us the right to bear arms to protect ourselves from the government" but then say "I think the first step would be for routine gun inspections" who would conduct these inspections? the government that should keep it's nose out of it?

Sorry but the 2nd Amendment doesn't say anything about deer hunting. The Second Amendment talks about the right to bear arms not the right to hunt deer. Are we compenstaing for something? You bet. We're compensating for the bleeding heart liberal judges who keep releasing criminals back onto our streets and allowing them to prey on innocent citizens. "I can kill ya with a .22 but it's a whole lot easier with a 12 guage".

Don't know. Are women who are NOW members compensating for something with the obsession of their hatred for an alleged patriarchical society?

I'm not compensating for a darn thing. My first gun is huge, and my second gun is huge. I don't see the problem.
