Dems/Libs like to take credit for abolishing slavery, yet the Republican Party was formed in the early 1850's by anti-slavery activists. Abraham Lincoln, the first Republican president, signed the Emancipation Proclamation that freed the slaves.

They also like to claim woman's right to vote but in 1896, Republicans were the first major party to favor women's suffrage.

Then there is the tired retoric of Dems/Libs pioneering the civil rights movement. They like to constantly invoke the name of Martin Luther King Jr. although he was a Republican whom Democrats opposed.

Why do they lie and steal credit for victories they opposed?

Bush's approval rating has been stuck at around the 31 to 35% rating for what seems like forever now.

These people that still support him are die-hard Republicans.

So here's my question: What would he have to do to loose their support since he hasn't lost it yet?

I think he could eat a baby on live television during the state of the union address and there would still be Republicans that would support him and say, "Well, he had his reasons for eating the baby. I mean did you see that baby? He was asking for it."

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -
President George W. Bush said on Saturday his upcoming budget proposal would emphasize restraint on domestic spending while making defense and war costs for
Iraq and
Afghanistan the top priority.

"Cutting the deficit during a time of war requires us to restrain spending in other areas," Bush said in his weekly radio address.......Bush will propose a 1 percent increase in spending outside defense for fiscal 2008, according to The Washington Post. That would amount to a decrease in programs after accounting for inflation, which is running at about 2.5 percent.

The Post also said the president would seek a 10 percent increase in the regular
Pentagon budget to $481 billion.

FINANCING IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN WARS

An administration official has said the president will request a total of $245 billion to finance the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan through late 2008.

The Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, the Caspian. Sea. Bush sending war ships to the Gulf region. Ahmadinejad still 'daring' the U.S.; promising untold retaliation. Wondering why and how he should feel so confident. Our U.S. intelligence looks for uranium processing locations, etc. Some they are aware of. Some facilities they are not.
But.
Just how much do we know about this country. This Iran. The Iran-Contra Affair, the Iran-Iraq war, etc. It bothers me that he is so outwardly sure of himself, knowing the capabilities of both the U.S. and Israel. And apparently he is also rather sure of whatever capabilities the Iranians have BESIDES the nukes (r the future building of same).

Is it possible that this man has some sort of offensive or defensive capabilities located under the SEA? or other waterways beyond her borders?

Let's leave Mexico out of this question. Because they suffer in their country. Because they are treated inhumanely. Because they don't have enough to eat. Sorry folks but here in the US, poverty is alive and well.

I think these undocumented aliens will suffer more illegally present in the US since everyone is going to take advantage of them. Pity is not a good reason, on the other hand why don't you advocates preach the benefits of legal immigration. Sometimes things don't happen overnight. (I for one do not support illegal immigration)

We must be the most unwanted guests anywhere in the world.

Why can't we be honest and just say we need Iraqi resources and land, instead of all the BS about bring Democracy.

They don't want us, they hate us. Surely there must be some decency left somewere in America.
