We must be the most unwanted guests anywhere in the world.

Why can't we be honest and just say we need Iraqi resources and land, instead of all the BS about bring Democracy.

They don't want us, they hate us. Surely there must be some decency left somewere in America.

There is decency left in the U.S., but often as not it's accused of being weak or unpatriotic. We're the ones who helped "break" Iraq. Why can't we ask THEM to suggest what they want us to do to help fix it? (Within reason, of course... assuming anyone left in this mess can be reasonable). Currently the majority of them are asking us to please leave. I don't know how we can claim to be the good guys, the longer we ignore that plea. The Iraqis are not children. We should stop treating them as such.

*sighs* So many errors, so little time.

1: Not true. A recent European study found that the French were the most unpopular tourists in the world. By far.

2: We don't need Iraqi resources (we get less than 3% of our oil from Iraq - look it up). We surely don't need Iraqi land.
We ARE bringing Democracy (3 elections, democratically elected government, Constitution, etc.) - What we NEED is to destablize the Middle East in order to get rid of the dicatatorships that are funding terrorism in an attempt to create a 7th century-style global Caliphate. Try looking for the writings of Michael Yon or Bill Roggio, and Stephen den Beste.

Try learning about the roots of the Iraqi nation (esp. it's creation). learn the difference between Kurd, Arab, and Persian. Study the differences between Shiite and Sunni. Then look at the differences between Hamas, Fatah, and Hezbollah. Study the roots of the current government in Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Then take a peek at the history of the Middle East with particular focus on Arab/Persian, Shitte/Sunni, and Kurd/Everyone else conflicts.

Take a peek at global energy needs, percentage of supply from each nation, and oil distribution networks.

Then come back and ask your question again if you think it has any basis in reality. You may wish to ask yourself 'What is the best solution to bring about peace in the Middle East and a stable energy supply to the 5.4 billion other people on Earth?"

Until everyone realizes that our dollar is backed by the oil in the Persian Gulf the government can't tell us the truth. The USA must control the oil and insure that oil cannot be purchased with anything but US currency in order to safeguard the stability of our entire economic system. When there became nowhere near enough gold in the world to cover the USA's debt we needed to come up with another way to back the dollar. 'Tricky Dick Nixon' convinced the OPEC nations to agree to selling oil for dollars, and we've been dictating policy in the Middle East ever since.

If you have read the Project for a New American Century's webpage, you'll have a better clue what the neocons who run this government have planned for us and the world. The only way to stop them is to pressure Congress not to fund the continued war in Iraq and to vote against any initiatives or policies that will hurt US interestes abroad. Then get out and help elect a decent Democrat to the Presidency in 2008.

Why the hell would we want Iraqi land? We're not planning to colonise, for crying out loud.
And if wanted their oil, we would have just taken over the place back during the first Gulf War. Besides...we were getting all the Iraqi oil we wanted under the "oil for food" program. The oil companies paid for it, but they're paying for it now, as well. (And not getting nearly as much because things are so unstable.)
There are a lot of STUPID things we can rightly criticize George Bush for...but invading Iraq because we wanted their oil and land is one of the few things for which he's NOT to blame.

When People like Bush realize that they are the cause for other countries' hatred towards innocent Americans. Just like our solders are being forced to fight terrorist and kill innocent Iraqi civilians in the cross fire. If those people only knew how much many of us Americans sympathize with them.

Its good to see so many able-bodied young men ready to go to Iraq and possibly give their life for the idea of Iraqi democracy.

When the left stops complaining about the Iraqi people being free, free to vote, free to choose and free to live. A humanist ought to respect rights for the people

Great question!!!!!
When is it enough? I ask myself this about Bush and his cronies everyday. I guess Iran is next on the list...
If he were honest, no one would've let him have his way!
There is a lot of decency in the US. We just have to stand up and shout it out every chance we get (and vote it down too, or impeach!)
Keep asking and keep talking.

I'm afraid we are stuck ther until Bush is out of the white house. He is too stubborn to get out even though he has made such a mess there.
