He was subpoenaed by the defense because they are trying to prove that Scooter Libby is being sacrificed to save Karl Rove. It remains unclear whether or not Rove will be called to the stand to testify in this case

So they can try to find out what part he had, if any. I think most of the people surrounding V.P. Cheney were involved. I can picture Cheney, Rove and Libby along with others plotting exactly what they were going to do to get even with Joe Wilson for his report accusing the White House of misleading the public over claims of Iraq trying to buy uranium from Africa. Another low-light of the Bush era by his administration.
