While speaking against recent grass roots movements to fight illegal immigration Cesar Perales, President & Gen Counsel for the Puerto Rican Legal Defense & Education fund, was quoted as follows:

"It's basically saying those people (illegal immigrants) are illegal in their very nature; It is all right to be against them because they are lawbreakers"

Here's another from Domingo Garcia, National civil rights chairman of LULAC and former Texas State representative and Dallas City council member:

paraphrased " To refer to a hispanic as an illegal immigrant, regardless of status of documentation, is a racial slur just as insulting as calling a black man "the N word" (he didn't censor) "

It seems to me that these high profile illegal immigration supporters are trying to re-define our language. By definition an illegal immigrant is a lawbreaker. They have entered or stayed in our country in defiance of laws against their actions.

What do you think ?

Does anyone think that prostitution should be legalized and controlled by the gov't? It would get the people off the street and they would be able to work in a safe and clean enviroment...

A small suburb community in Texas is considering adopting an ordinance that will enable the town to join in on the fight against illigal immigration. It would punish businesses that employ illegal aliens with an escalating range starting with fines and ending with denial of business permits. The ordinance also requires all people who rent their domicile to apply to the city for a registration permit. Any property owner who rents to a person who does not have the proper permit would be fined. Part of the application process for obtaining said permit would be verification of citizenship or immigration status. Lastly, the ordinance would adopt english as the official language of the town for all town business.

Do you think that this town's effort to control immigration is inherently racist or simply common sense ???

I've got this sneaky feeling Gore will do a Nixon and win the White House. And like Nixon, it will end in failure.

The noise about illegal migrants in this country should not be used to scare the good peolpe of this country. rather the govt. should let them know the benefits of having migrants in the country. migrants who have stayed in the country illegally for four to five years with proof should be given amnesty and allowed to remain and contribute to the society.

How fast would a car have to hit you from behind for you to get bad whiplash? (The car that is hit is stationary by the way!). I am asking because my girlfriend was involved in a minor car accident where a car in front slammed on its brakes when seeing red lights (controlling a different lane of traffic!). The car behind him went into the back of him and then my girlfriend (in the 3rd car back) then hit him (2nd car back). My girlfriend was travelling just under 30mph as she was just about to take a corner.
We have had a letter from car 2's solicitor stating that 'Our client has sustained a whiplash from which he continues to suffer' and 'You failed to travel at a safe distance behind our client's car and drove a VW Beetle into the rear thereof'.
My issue is with the 'car behind is liable' rule. This rule is a lazy black and white rule that cuts out extra thought and cosideration for what actually happened. The accident was caused by car 1. Simple!

Last night I got arrested for DUI. The cop was impounding my car and he left the door tohis car unlocked and I got out and left. I was not that drunk and its not like I ran someone over. I am still wearing his handcuffs and I cannot figure out how to get them off. I managed to get them to the front so I can type and use the toilet, but I want to get rid of them before my parents wake up. Any Ideas?

Vice President Agnew was forced out of office prior to the final push to get rid of Nixon. Is history about repeat itself? At the end, Senator Barry Goldwater (R-AZ) and other Congressional heavyweights went to the White House and told Nixon he had to go. Nixon's resignation followed in short order.

Will Cheney and Bush follow in the footsteps of Agnew and Nixon?
