While speaking against recent grass roots movements to fight illegal immigration Cesar Perales, President & Gen Counsel for the Puerto Rican Legal Defense & Education fund, was quoted as follows:
"It's basically saying those people (illegal immigrants) are illegal in their very nature; It is all right to be against them because they are lawbreakers"
Here's another from Domingo Garcia, National civil rights chairman of LULAC and former Texas State representative and Dallas City council member:
paraphrased " To refer to a hispanic as an illegal immigrant, regardless of status of documentation, is a racial slur just as insulting as calling a black man "the N word" (he didn't censor) "
It seems to me that these high profile illegal immigration supporters are trying to re-define our language. By definition an illegal immigrant is a lawbreaker. They have entered or stayed in our country in defiance of laws against their actions.
What do you think ?

To NBR660 - both of the men quoted are attorneys in the USA. They understand the law very well.

To Micaela - These men aren't interested in the rights of the existing citizenry of America. They seek to reverse existing law and obtain pardons for a specific group of lawbreakers. This isn't about racism. It's about a group of people who have taken advantage of the generosity of Americans. I don't blame them for wanting a better life but I refuse to let them make me bear the cost of their decisions.

Spot on, buddy !
Language shapes thought. Propagandists have used this subtle craft to effect throughout history.
Get educated about this age-old problem, it may surprise.
Examples I could use are politically incorrect here.

I am intelligent enough to know that of course all Hispanics are not illegal aliens, that's just stupid..And I think that perhaps any one that misinformed,is either a fool or a racist. The comparison to calling black Americans the "N"word is a little much tho.The illegal is illegal by his/her own choice and can change their status if they are inclined to do so.The black American, can not wake up and decide, "I will not be a black person today".
to escape the racial taunts of the stupid. This constant trying to compare the illegal aliens unlawful actions to that of millions of black people that have struggled, and are still struggling for their right full place in this country,is just asinine..No one with a brain thinks its any where near the same thing.Illegal aliens are lawbreakers, they are committing a crime when they enter into this country illegally.
The pro illegal lobby can run their mouths all they want because we legal Americans know the difference.
No to any blanket amnesty and secure our borders.

Cain,
High profile people that supports illegal immigrants regardless of trying to re-define our language are motivated by exploiting these people for cheap labor.
For example many strawberry field pickers in Central Valley California are in fact illegal immigrants working for indepedent farmers/growers.
One of the easiest ways to reduce labor costs is to keep workers off the books. Growers are often obligated to pay unemployment taxes and workers' compensation permiums for each of their employees, in addition to Social Security and Medicare taxes. Paying an "invisible worker" in cash lowers the cost of that worker by at least 20%. Ignoring California's rules about overtime effectively cuts those wages by 50%.
And failing to pay any wages brings the greatest savings of all. The vast number of illegal immigrants in the migrant work force is an invitation to break the law. They are unlikely to approach authorities about a violation of the labor code.

I agree with you there is only one defination to the word Illegal, and everyone knows what it is.
I do however love that fact that as your clips in the question show, that people will twist and turn anything to their advantage. No matter how idiotic it sounds or how stupid it makes them look.

But the main point...was that these people are human beings to be treated as such. Being against someone does not make you a racist but when you hate someone or are against them only basing your facts on their race, color or national origin then that is RACISM

They want everyone to characterize it that way. So I guess calling a rapist who happened to be Hispanic a rapist would be racist too.
What if the illegal isn't Hispanic. Is it still racist? Or is it only racist if HIS race is involved?
How racist!

What you have hear is a lack of understanding of the law, they don't understand the law so it doesn't apply to them.
