Short answer, yes. I also feel that drugs should be legalized and controlled the same as alcohol. There are entirely to many people in jail for prostitution and drug use. If it were legal our taxes would go down.

The crack whores would still be on the street....those of whom make up the majority of prostitutes. Plus it would send a message that this occupation is an acceptable one. 7 out of 10 young Russian girls in there teens say that when they grow up they want to be prostitutes because they make a decent living. That is a terribly sad truth.

For Efilne: Yes, I've been to Vegas, I was a cop there and owned my own construction company for 25 years.

It's, prostitution, not as rampant as one would think, in Vegas. There are more cities in the U.S. that are worse, at least they know it's there and work on it.

No, legalized or not, it wouldn't work, the underworld would get into it worse than it is now because there would be more of it. Think about it? every woman, girl, that needed a dime would be into it because it would be legal.
Crime would be on a rampage, drugs would be worse. You'd be opening a door to America, like the drug trade, that would be out of control. I could give you a worse scenario, but, use you imagination.

Yes, prostitution should be legal, but it should not be controlled by the government. If a prostitute has an asset she wishes to sell to someone who is willing to buy, it should be allowed as long as it doesn't endanger anyone else. Selling an asset like, say, anthrax does endanger the public and should be illegal.

Wouldn't be legalized until a "prostitution tax" was instated. That's my outlook. It's not even about their safety, it's about the politicians and whether or not they get their share.

Don't worry, the current trend specially in open societies is becoming like a "whorehouse on every corner"
Those who can keep themselves clean in this environment will truly be blessed children of God.

It seems to be working in Amsterdam. And it would take a big chunk of crime off the streets

We have legal prostitution already. All you need to do is video tape it, call it porn, and there you go - legal prostitution.

Yes I am all for it. I mean its just SEX and why not have licensed, trained, and responsible providers as professionals who have medical checkups, protection and are another taxable revenue stream. I think we are worse off for our current level of moral and social codes.
