Do you think the democrats are taking advantage of the minorities? Blacks and hispanics are always voting predominantly democrat, sometimes only because they're minorities. With that being said, do you think the republicans are taking advantage of the christian fundamentalists to gain votes? Persuading them that they are religious and tricking them into voting republican. Are both parties taking advantage of their loyal bases?

We know what we have to do. We know how we must do it. Stop the rhetoric. Stop the name calling. We all want peace and for our children to live in a better world.

Let them do a tour of duty. If this isn't a good idea to you, what do you think should be done with them?
Maybe they should train to become a soldier the first prison visit.
And if they turn up at the prison gates a second time, then they are sent to fight for their country.

On http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/11/8/30352.shtml?s=ic there is a story on Michigan’s recent vote to ban certain aspects of Affirmative Action. This ban will no longer allow the consideration of race or sex in the determination of eligibility for acceptance in colleges or government jobs.
Opponents of this ban worry that the passing of this would spread to other states and regress the progress made toward equality for minorities and women. Supporters believe that affirmative action was unfairly keeping some people from getting jobs and university admissions because minorities were being given an edge.
Can equality really be equality if it is the law to say that you have to enroll so many minorities or women in a university; or consider so many minorities or women for a job?

I think it's worse to vote ignorantly than to not vot at all. I think many people vote ignorantly & thats the biggest problem with voting. Some vote because their friends or family say your stupid if you don't, so what do you do? You vote mindlessly just so you can say you voted & in essence, most likely voting for a team you don't even agree with but didn't know enough to realize that. You helped the wrong team. At that moment you really ARE the problem & can't complain because you voted ignorantly.

Some people vote one way only because their familiy says so. Some vote for one side only on heresay & rumors about the parties to vote for. & some people pick on those who didn't vote to make them feel bad enough to talk them into voting for their team, which is selfish.

I think one should vote only after they've taken the time to know what they stand for & about who their voting for, & that sometimes takes time & much effort. You shouldn't vote just because.

Thoughts?
