Let them do a tour of duty. If this isn't a good idea to you, what do you think should be done with them?
Maybe they should train to become a soldier the first prison visit.
And if they turn up at the prison gates a second time, then they are sent to fight for their country.

Its an idea!!!.
To solve the prison problem, the government need to send home the 10k foreign prisoners (to serve prison term in own country). Put the mental prisoners in mental hospitals. The drug offenders in rehab. Kids in Young Offenders Inst. And only have the real threat, dangerous people in prison.

If you are absolutely sure that every single prisoner is guilty of a crime and that every crime warrants a prison sentence (even the crimes you no doubt commit on a daily basis), and you do not wish to live in a civilised society (as you do now), then your idea is still somewhat suspect. Perhaps there needs to be a comprehensive overhaul of criminal law and sentencing to take into account whether reasonable punishment can be administered outside of prison. Just a thought.

Sending them to do a call of duty tour is not the answer, It would be better if the Law were to return all foreign prisoners back to their own country, that would reduce the numbers in prisons as the majority are foreigners

I don't agree. If you put a gun in the hands of a prisoner and send them out to fight in Iraq, they'll all go AWOL and try and make a living in Iraq. You're basically setting them free with guns in a new country. If there was a stipulation, that if by serving in Iraq they could reduce their sentence, then I would do it. Otherwise, to just make them fight is pointless.

Food for thought Who would be willing to lead criminals with guns? two how hard do you think it would be for them to disapear in a war torn country? This may indeed be a heaven on earth rape and plunder for some. On the other hand yeah it could give a whole new appreciation on life too

Good idea........but apparently we're not allowed to send asylum seekers home so what should we do with them???? By the way *David* yes the prisons are full........of those 'nasty little old ladies and gents who can't afford their council tax'. (What a danger to society they are)!!..... Why do you think so many murderers are freed early to offend again?? The government need the prison places for the poor and needy!!!

Sure. Why not? But could you trust criminals to do their duty and be fair?
Look at the way it is now, I'd fear for the civilians to have rapists, child molesters and murderers running around war torn countries.
