China could destroy us. Brian said we have 1,000,000 troops (which I doubt). They have one billion people. They also have nuclear weapons, and being communist their citizens swear an oath to the country which means they serve in the military if needed. You think we can take a billion people? This is fight that will never happen though. China doesn't want to start with us because american businesses send jobs their for their cheap labor. If we fight them, then North Korea invades South Korea and India invades China. Pakistan would join China (to fight India). Now you have Worl War 3. They could win, but it would never happen.

The USA will spend $498 billion in 2007 on defense. That does not include the $2 trillion for the Iraq occupation over ten years. That is more than any other 5 countries added, except China. China has a one million man army. We have 147,000 in Iraq. China also has twice as many tanks. China could invade the USA with half it's force. This is one reason we need our troops at home. Iraq and Afghanastand are not our countries, they never will be ours. If we were to attack Iran, North Korea and China would defend them.

S. after the fallout styled invasion of Alaska. the U. S. wins by ability of default cuz of survival, as China and India did not have adequate nukes to kill u . s . a . so they killed Russia. The planet is heavily broken however the hot international survives. (previous international engoulfed in nuclear conflict because of the fact the fallout destroyed infrastructure.)

If we couldn't pound North Vietnam back to the stone age what makes you think we would have a chance against CHINA?

I think China is our greatest hope in defeating global terrorism. (Yes, Islam extremists have China as a target after they defeat the US - check it out.)

We better just do our best to keep China at least neutral to us. We're gonna need all the help we can get, and I don't get the impression the US will ever be able to make a unified stand against terrorism anytime soon.

As of right now the USA would win, because if the Chinese thought they had a chance then they would have already invaded Taiwan.

Both have great weapons of destruction and 'expendable people', but it may actually come down to area and reasons for war. Asian people are more congenial to coming together for a common cause. In the States it takes more to bring us together, unfortunately.

china, because they fight dirty, and already have a plan in place for doing it. the ex-defense minister chi haotian got canned for leaking its details. saying war with the US is inevitable by 2010. and that the Chinese need living-space. they can try to win concessions for tiny strips of land in vietnam, korea of taiwan through the UN. but Chi said that the land that China requires are vast tracks of land, primarily in austrailia and north america. they plan to recolonize these lands. using their neutron and chemical weapons to take out the population centers, using the many ports on the west coast that they already own, and their vast fleet of super-cargo ships to deliver the weaponry, under our noses under the free trade agreement. one of his excuses was that the native americans were originally yellow peoples from asia, and they were abused by the americans, hence, they have an obligation to "liberate" the yellow peoples of this continent. He said he is already prepared to sacrifice all the cities east of the country in a retaliation by the US. China's massive population would absorb the brunt of the retaliation, (with the advantage of alleviating the over-population problems).
