Cleary, the US is the only remaining super power left in the world. In the forefront of international events, Korea and Iran (among other nations) are talking about their progress in developing nuclear energy and is under considerable scrutiny over weathe or not their intentions are for WMDs, but for energy.

Ronald Reagan and Mikail Gorbachev are commendable in their efforts to reduce their arsenals of nuclear warheads. Why do we now insist on keeping ours, but jump on anyone else who hints at developing such weapons.

Im not an American but I have been on to the 2006 election . I read & they also quoted
‘a new direction for America’ & ‘Broken government’ what is up with that & didn’t sound good to me. And Its like America was a less of America for the past years w/c that is how I understood it. Why didn’t they say like,’ betterment of America and doing more’. So tell what’s behind that statement.

I started a suit several months ago and paid a retainer to an atty. We waited for the other parties to respond to the mediation request and that time has passed. How long should it take to get this thing done? I am in L.A. Since the atty is getting a percentage of the outcome I feel odd pushing him but weeks go by. When I do get a response it is general and there are no objectives posed by him. It is all vauge as to when it will start and end. The suit involves an agent who sold me a multi-unit which was not permitted.
We are suing the seller, title co and broker. Thanks- Rufus

Clearly there are those of you who are passionately in favor of both sides of this question. I'd like to hear you response, as I already know mine.

What was the majority of voter turn-out? Did just a lot of Dems came out and voted or did a lot of Republicans went against their party candidates?

If I could have a sec just to say Calm down and take a deep breath before you answer. Here's my opinion-I'm a Democrat but am embarrased by some of the gloating I've seen here so far. And some of the Republicans are doing some name calling. Is there anyone out there who agrees that we have far more in common than not? Do you think maybe some of the politicians like to alienate us so we will vote for them?
I think we have a great system here in the U.S. No one party has all the power for too long and sometimes we have to share it-forcing compromise. I'm sorry but I don't think any of us ever get things exactly the way we want in politics or much else. This system seems to work pretty well for us. Niether side can entirely blame the other for problems that need work today as we have all shared the power back and forth for a few hundred years now.
Another question if you have the time-Do you think calling folks of another party affiliation names reflects your own or yourself positively?

It ha been a glorious day for Democrats. But I mean everyone, Democrat, Republican, Independent, Libratarian, whatever. You did the most American thing you can do, participating in Democracy!

Bravo to anyone who voted, regardless of your affiliation.

I read somewhere that they were going back to this, but wasn't sure if it's already in action or if it's going into effect at a later date.

OK, for once this is actually an honest question, just one of those snarky non-questions you find all the time in the politics section. I'm a big liberal, and while pleased with tonight's outcome, I'm concerned that it took a pedophile scandal (Mark Foley) to put Dems over the top (at least I *think* that's what happened). But what if Foley never did anything wrong? What if there were no headline-grabbing sex scandals just before the election? I'm concerned that voters just can't understand liberals and what we stand for. Maybe all the people understand are sex scandals. It's more than a little disconcerting.
