sure they failed to use the full power of the u.s military to put down permanently the terrorists in the middle east, they held back for political reasons and so we continue to fight these cowards. one of the biggest mistakes the rep's made was not to fight back against the constant barrage of criticisms and false accusations. i understand the rep's are not like the dem's in that they like to be 'in your face' and combatative but there are times when you must stand up and respond to the immature tactics of verbal bomb throwing that the dem's are so famous for. many times i wondered why the rep's didn't just stand up to the dem's. the other big mistake and probably the most costly was the denial that the media played a major role in who got elected. its a powerful medium that too many rely on for the 'truth'. too many are easily swayed by the brights lights, pretty colors and clever words brought to them veiled as the truth when in fact it is nothing more than a extreme left agenda.

Because the GOP hold the White House, they need 50 Senators for a majority; the Dems need 51. We can assume that Lieberman will sit as a Dem, but Bernie Sanders, who has been an Independent for over 20 years, isn't likely to. As a result, the Senate totals may end up at 50 Democrat, 49 GOP, and 1 Independent - denying anybody a majority.

What happens in a situation like this? Does whomever eventually controls the Senate have to settle for the title 'Senate Plurality Leader'? Has it ever happened before?

The democrats have been traditionally suspicious about the designs of the Pakistan. In the Kargil war, Bill Clinton took a decisive stand against Pakistan, which forced them to abort their mission, much to the chagrin of Musharaff, the architect of that adventure. Now, is Pakistan justified in having apprehension about the support and aid that they had been promised by the Bush administration.

This is probably more related to Australia than other countries as I don't know their internal politics, but all welcome to answer. My own thoughts are that since land values have trebled and rates accordingly, the councils who are supposed to represent the landowners have become Dictators.
