The spelling is different.

In theory, Republicans favor smaller government and less regulation, while the Democrats favor bigger government and more oversight. In recent decades, though, Republicans have found themselves in bed with Social Conservatives, so they now oppose environmental regulation and laws that protect consumers from Big Business, but favor laws that enforce who you can sleep with and where you can go to church. Democrats pretty much oppose everything that Republicans favor, and vice-versa.

Democrats - tend to be pro-choice, big government, pro-welfare, pro-taxes

Republicans - tend to be pro-life, small government, anti-welfare, anti-taxes

I say TEND to be because parties change over the years. New issues come along. I believe that most people may be registered as one party but there is wiggle room. For example I am a registered republican but am pro-choice
