I am upset at the election for a number of reasons. People voted because of their feelings on Iraq and it had nothing to do with a lot of local politicians. People were mislead by politicians saying that we need to get out of Iraq, but they were the same ones saying that we need to defeat terrorism and Saddam Hussein. the liberals ponited fingers and called Bush stupid and people eat it up because they are afraid to deal with terrorism. They want to be cowards and pretend that everything is okay.
But the conservatives didn't act up to their part either. They wanted to pretend that they were more liberal than what they appeared to be. They let people like Foley pretend to be conservative and even tried to hide the fact that he was gay. Conservatives need to be stronger by being proud of who they are. Acting like liberals they'll just lose whatever advantage they had.
Name calling is on both sides. From neo-cons to junkyard liberals we need to be more respectful of each other as human beings. Will it ever happen? No. From here on out it will get worse and we will see political ads slinging more mud. the simple fact is that we are never going to agree on all things. We need to deal with each issue one at a time. And that will probably never happen.
As far as the gloating, it is happening and what people need to remember is that now liberals have a standard to live up to. the Dow Jones is the highest it has ever been, unemployment is the lowest in 25 years, Americans are doing well. If that goes down it will show in the voting booths next election. People tend to vote on how thick their wallets are. Democrats need to keep that in mind. And no matter who wins, Democrats or Republicans, no party can decide how happy you are. No party rules my life.

Very well said! I'm a Republican, and it's nice to see that there are others who feel the same way as I. Some Dems/Reps seem to not want to recognize this. I guess they enjoy all the baseless insults and name calling. Demwits, Neocons, they're all just stupid childish ways to avoid dealing with what we think is going to work best for the country. It's easier to just assume that the other side is completely uneducated, ignorant of the issues, and calloused to the real needs of the American people.
I love that in order for anything to work, compromise has to take place. I do wish it wouldn't get so very nasty, though. It always seems like when one party holds the reins, the other is constantly looking for things they can cry foul over.
When it comes right down to it, no one side can be solely responsible for anything that takes place in our amazing country. We all have an equal hand in what is allowed to take place, and when the country is constantly divided over petty things, nothing good can be accomplished.

I think that we have alot in common in terms of the things we want. We all want to have a good life and a better life for aour children, for example. After that is where things can get complicated. There is a general disagreement about what is the best way to get those things and then there are hot button issues like gay marriage, minimum wage, and health care reform.
I think what really hurts is some of the polarizing rhetoricthat is used by politicians and is carried over by supporters. I do believe that history has shown us for real change to occur we have to work together. The trouble is that the hot button issues get people worked up, even if they don't know much about them.
Take gay marriage, the left feels it is a basic human right. The right feels it is an abomination. And until someone comes along that sits down and tries to understand both sides and by doing so makes us see both sides we will remain divided name calling children.
Man I hope Obama runs in 08, because I think he can be that man.

When it comes to any election, I don't vote a straight party. Instead, I choose the lesser of the two evils, so to speak. Basically, whichever candidate has a better track record, then that's who I will choose.
Name calling is so elementary school . . . why can't we all act like adults and do what's right for the country and not have political leaders that are more concerned about their personal bank account then the state of affairs in this wonderful country of ours. THAT is how we can fix our country's problems . . . work together as a team.

I am a Republican, but I like your question. I think the wrong party won today but as long as they don't put the most liberal Dems in charge ( Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Murtha) It may all work out.
If we cut and run like Murtha has made it clear he wants to do, we will be in big trouble. Nancy Pelosi already said on National TV
she can't wait to have a lame duck President on 60 minutes. Now her party claims she wants to work with the Republicans. And Kennedy is just dangerous. I guess we will see.

The day following the elections they have been driving around calling out racial slurs. that is gloomy that throughout the time of 2008 that we nevertheless have some many small minded human beings. He gained, no matter while you're upset or not, he continues to be #40 4. i don't remember the Dem made any racial slurs while President Bush cheated his way interior the White abode(two times). If we did we could have been hung on a bypass, or dragged down the line. President-choose Obama now have the job of cleansing up his mess. yet interior the South we've consistently had to freshen up the white guy mess. Have an remarkable day

I couldn't disagree with you more. Democrats and Republicans are very different people. Republicans don't even watch or listen to the same news as we do! It's like they're *trying* to fill their heads with crap. How anyone can honestly defend George W. Bush and Dick Cheney is so completely and totally mentally screwed up that I can hardly believe what I hear sometimes. There are small moments when I regret it, but for the most part, I'm quite pleased to shovel some of that horsecrap back over the wall where it came from. Democrats *had to* learn to talk trash. People like Rush Limbaugh have been doing it for almost two decades now, and it was about time we stood up and gave them the beat down they so richly deserved.
