"Imperialism"...That's the best one word explanation I can give you. The US has become the predominant imperialist power in the world in the past 50 years. Plutocrats in Washington have supported a menagerie of thugs, death squads, and dictators to project American power and influence around the world, and to make it safer for American corporations to exact tribute from the third world. Suharto was propped up so as to make Indonesia yet another neo-colonial client-state, regardless of the sort of ugly consequences that came as a result (take the invasion of East Timor as one possible consequence of US interference in Indonesian internal affairs).

why do we have to. ask our govt. to justify it. are you under the impression our govt does what we want?
