where's the plan? how are you going to solve all the problems you say we have? illegal immigration, taxes, alternative fuel sources, the high crime rate, the war...what? what are you going to do now?! any suggestion at all would help.

Nancy Pelosi began to outline a plan a bit tonight. They don't take office until January at which time you vcan expect to see a plan that will be similar to the Contract with America the Republicans had in the nineties. Expect illegal immigration to be what it was six months ago, a minor issue, There will likely be work to roll back tax cuts for the wealthy while continuing to give if not increase the breaks on the middle class. I also expect to see some sort of an outline for a minimum wage increase. There will be a push to have some sort of plan for the war outlined by the president, that will call for a timetable of achievable goals. Oil companies will likely lose some of the tax breaks that have allowed them to continue to post record profits and auto manufacturers and possibly energy corporations as well, will likely get tax breaks for work on renewable energy sources. It will be an important year for the party so I believe they will do everything possible to hit the ground running in January.

you know how a person can quickly put on weight when not eating healthfully and be cautious by leading a healthy lifestyle and excercising regularly. However the weight goes on fast but it takes a long time to have the ugly weight come off and stay off in a healthy manner. Well...it will be the same thing here (i hope that was simple enough to understand the metaphor), the Democratic party has a huge mess to clean up and what we will be able to do is only patch minor holes in the system until 2008 when a Democratic president is in office. With all of the destruction already done...we can only begin to pick up pieces. Now we will see troubles, it hasnt even been 24 hours and you think the democratic party is supposed to be a bunch of magicians! Come back down to reality and take a real look at the true state of our country and be a bit more realistic about time tables here. likely all we are going to be able to do is put dubya on a leash, thats it.

Raise taxes. What else does a Democrat do? Create bureaucratic forms and procedures, hire a bunch of marginals who have exhausted their unemployment benefits, and pay them more in benefits and privileges than is visible in their salaries.
My first question is what are they going to do about the drug war? If they went ahead and legalized at least marijuana, and developed a plan for decriminalizing and eventually legalizing all drugs (probably putting them into prescription-only use for awhile to get things worked out), that would go a long way to reducing the bloated bureaucracy right there.
End the drug war and send the POWs home!

Remember the crap that Bush 1 left us? Then Clinton came in, and in 8 years turned that pathetic mess into the biggest economic boom the country has ever seen. Stocks soared, inflation was low, unemployment was low, people could buy homes. In just 8 years it was the best economy the world has ever known.
And in an even shorter 6 years the Oil Monkey turned our booming surplus into the biggest debt of all time, started an unwinable war based on lies to avenge daddy, and driven the economy completely into the shitter.
It'll take a few years, but we'll clean it up. Just like we did last time. But sorry, the gay bashing and fundie moralizing will have to be put on hold. We might even start up stem cell research to easy the suffering of tens of millions of adults, instead of throwing those cells into the incinerator. Dems are just like that.

They are going to start following the republicans lead by promising everything to get voted in office then pretending that everything they promised is not possible due to some form of beauracratic hold up while they make millions off of bylaws thrown into unheard of new regulatory commissions and distracting the herded masses with threats of foreign interlopages.

the cool thing about the Dems is that they will use the same approach as the Reps. and just call their strategies by different names. they are quite creative that way.
