links to tank supplies for the turtle docks they have in the tanks at the fish or reptile stores? I need something sturdy. My pond turtle is in a tank and she can't get out of the water to bask because she falls off the dock. I have bought the largest dock in the store along with a a hollow log that floats and its pretty big..and she just can't do it. I need a solid rock that will stay in position and she can just climb up onto but nothing that floats. Those don't agree with her. Thanks!

I just got an iguana, and he was fine the whole night I got him. But now he's head bobbing at me, and when I pet him he's using his leg to push my hand away. I let him roam around a bit the night I brought him home, and that was 2 nights ago. Because of the new surrroundings, and the new cage etc., should I keep him in his cage or let him roam around for the next week? And how long will this last before he's friendly again? Only experienced answers please.

I found this snake in the wild, and it readily crawled around me and my friends that day. The next day, I purchase some frozen pinkies from a pet store and thawed one. I tried to get him to strike and take the warm, thawed pinkie, but he would not take it from my hand. A few hours later, I noticed that he had consumed the pinkie. I was impressed, as, again, this baby had just been caught the day before!! However, for the past 2 days since he has eaten, he has stayed in his burrow abd stayed sort of semi-coiled. Is this normal after a young snake has consumed food? Again, I was very impressed at how soon he ate after just be subdued to captivity. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I do not want anything to happen to this beautiful baby reptile!!

I recently purchased 2 FBTS, from petsmart, was helped by a woman who owned the toads herself so i felt comfortable with her picking out what i needed. She provided me with a clip on lamp and a 75W basking bulb. She said all i need to do is place the lamp right on the tank surface in one corner of land. After doing much research im finding that the temps its providing ( 95-100+ degrees) are too high? Yet i went back to the store, every employee claims its perfectly fine...I decided to switch the bulbs for more standard looking Bulbs down to 60 watt, and now my overall temp is about 80 degrees...what's the deal with these guys? I mean a lot of the research online says no heat lamp is even neeeded but literally every single employee at the store including a girl who had these toads for years, said even the 75W was fine...Am i alright now with the 60W and temps around 80 humidity around 60%? Also, are these guy's supposed to be active? they dont move too much...my ACFS move around more...

do box turtles swim in water that is shallow?

2007-09-23 08:54:41 · 6 answers · asked by M.B. 2

I have a 6 month old corn snake that used to have a feeding problem. I had her as a non feeder (I already had one snake and know how to make difficult feeders eat) and over the last month she has been taking one large pinkie wiggled in front of her every week. She now strikes and constricts her food. I last fed her 4 days ago.

She is usualy very placid but when she came out earlier she put her nose against my finger and opened her mouth wide, and bit me, then she did the same thing on her own body, and actualy bit herself. She then tried to bite me a couple of times (i'm talking slowly opening her mouth and putting teeth on skin, then biting, there is no striking going on here, i'm stopping her as soon as she has opened her mouth wide) and also tried to bite herself. After a short while I put her back in her Vivarium, but i'm a little worried she will bite herself again.

Does anyone know why this is happening?
