What would his ideal temperature range be?

I'll be keeping him long enough to get him healthy again but after that I have to find him a new home because mine won't be big enough for him when he grows up. He's only three feet now but Ive been told he's going to be 10-12 feet before its over with so does anybody have any resources I can use to find him a new permanent home when the time comes? Im in southeastern Va. Thanks

give him the correct tems, around 82 ambient, and low 90's for the basking area. as said before, don't interfeer with him too much, only for what is necessary, don't feed him, just let him be until you can get to a vet, which i am sure you already know needs to be asap. the vet will prescribe some anti biotics i should think.

There are no home remedies for you to help him with. The vet will put him on antibiotics. Keep his habitat at about 85*. Do not try to feed him and do not handle him. He has to be totally stressed out right now. As far as finding him a new home you might put up an ad in the Vets office. Please be sure to find him a home with an experienced "Herp" person. Unfortunately snakes that have the mouth rot are susceptible to getting it again. Your snake is going to need a lot of care for awhile. Bless you for taking such good care of it until you can find it a home.

Good on you for taking him in and getting him the appropriate veterinary care.

You might as well get the vet to probe him/her as well when you are there to determine the gender. That will give you a more realistic idea of how big it will get. Only a rare and exceptionally large female would get over 10 feet, the average is around 8 feet. Males are smaller, usually 6 or 7 and more slender in body.
Once you nurse it back to health it would be a shame if you gave it up just because you were given exaggerated and inaccurate estimates about their potential size. Good luck with the treatment.

Get him in the appropriate temps for a redtail boa (this should help keep the respiratory infection from worsening for this short period of time). Give him places to hide and a bowl to soak in if he so chooses.

Obviously, avoid touching his head area and don't try to feed him (mouth rot's really serious and very painful for the animal)

Don't try to handle it too much. Just let him rest in an appropriate environment until tomorrow.

Keep his temperature at 80-85 degrees. DO NOT HANDLE him right now this is added stress. Keep water and enclosure extra clean right now. Take to a Vet ASAP. Email me and I will help you find a suitable safe home for this snake or even take it myself.
