They are fairly big, and healthy. They are currently in our basement which is very cold, their water is not frozen, and they are still eating. Are they going to be okay through the winter? I mean they have a basking light which gives some heat, I am going to put in a water heater tomorrow night, I just need to know they are okay. They are penninsula water cooters.

I have 2 house geckos and a long tailed lizard, the first one I got, a Christmas present from my wife, is not looking good. She's losing her color and is not as active as she was before, I've even seen her slide down the glass walls of her enclosure. She still chases crickets a little and eats them, but appears to be losing weight. I dust my crickets at least twice a week and have a 30 watt bulb over the enclosure as well as an under tank heater on the side. What's wrong with my gecko?!

I love turtles. I have owned different types of turtles through my entire life. I was just recently at a flea market, and saw a russian tortise for sale, it was a baby. Only a couple months old. But it was priced at like $200!! I would love to buy a russian tortise, but 200 bucks seems like a lot. What is a good price of those type of turtles? I've never paid more than 60 dollars for a turtle. And since then, I haven't been able to find any place that has them, epsecially that young. Any ideas of how I can locate someone that sells them? I am located in Dayton, Ohio. Thanks!

My husband is a classroom teacher and last fall was required to do a curiculum on reptiles. He was sent 8 green anoles, all males. The class took care of them and studied them for several weeks. The project is now over. It was suggested in the project literature that he send the anoles home with kids that got permission from parents. These were 4th graders. The care of these lizards is quite complex and I had him bring them home instead, fearing what would happen to them. I have read that these common green anoles are native to the eastern Carolinas. Is this true? I will be going to Charleston SC next week on a business trip and had the idea to take the anoles there and release them in a remote area. Thanks for your info and opinion of this idea.

My snake is about to shed and I would like to know if it's okay to feed him during this time. His eyes are a milky blue so that's how I know he's going to shed soon but I also know that his eye sight will be impaired. Will it put him in danger if I drop a mouse in there, or will he be alright?

My son's red eared slider (it's about 8 months old and tiny), has a very dry shell. We tried the lotion from Pet Smart, we are feeding him the baby pellets they recommend, the water is clean and filtered, and he has a basking lamp. Any ideas? The shell hasn't looked good for a few months...

She seems just fine, except the temperate in the cage and out, has been alittle uneven. From more to hot, because of this weird winter we are having, here in Upstate , NY. So I noticed that I can't keep the temp at her normal which is 84 degrees. She is a leopard geko, and she is pretty much full grown. How long do these animals live? She keeps on going to the cooler side of the tank, which is 73 degrees. But she is always on top of the heating rock or near. My bulb I just bought during the summer, so it's not that old. Can some one point me in the right direction?

Its Aspen bedding. Do I need to worry? I couldn't think of any way to get the bits out of its mouth while it was swallowing the mouse. It swallowed about half as much bedding as the size of the mouse.
