The very first thing you must do is get calm yourself...if they pick up on agitation, it makes them more intense...
I don't know how tame/trusting your Ig is but mine responds to being approached slowly with a soft voice...usually she realizes its me and shes safe and she calms right down...if something has her really spooked I lean over her so she feels covered and protected...I usually put my hands on either side of her rib cage so she'll respond to the heat, feel my heartbeat and calm right down...if your Ig isnt very tame, i wouldn't do this...sit nearby and talk to it until you can slowly reach out and stroke it...
Good Luck!

Depends on how old your iguana is, how long and how well you have bonded with it, and what is agitating it.

What worked best with my iguana (before we had bonded well)was to carefully grasp behind the head, and at the base of the tail. Not to squeeze, more to get ahold of him. Then I would rub his head, he liked having his cheeks rubbed. If he was calming down, he'd close his eyes.

This worked when he was upset by the cats being too close to him.

I used to put a towel or blanket over my iguanas eyes. That usually calms them down.

leave it alone to kool down. i own 4 iguanas and if you leave them alone for 10 or so minutes they calm down and you can handle them. also they need to be on a strictly vegan diet and if they aren't they will be pissed off more.

You can put a towel over its head this will sometimes calm it for my reptiles I stroke them gently along their side and they calm down almost immediately.
