My husband is a classroom teacher and last fall was required to do a curiculum on reptiles. He was sent 8 green anoles, all males. The class took care of them and studied them for several weeks. The project is now over. It was suggested in the project literature that he send the anoles home with kids that got permission from parents. These were 4th graders. The care of these lizards is quite complex and I had him bring them home instead, fearing what would happen to them. I have read that these common green anoles are native to the eastern Carolinas. Is this true? I will be going to Charleston SC next week on a business trip and had the idea to take the anoles there and release them in a remote area. Thanks for your info and opinion of this idea.
