Why do bettas make bubble nests besides for breeding? Is he happy? Or upset? Is there an alternative reasoning for his bubble making besides to mate?

I would like just a plan veggi clip not one that looks like a fish. My pet store around me does not have one. And i have tryed Ebay, and unless i am looking it up wrong i can not find one. I have found the one that looks like a fish but I just want a plane one. Thanks for your help. I have look on line other than ebay. I cant seem to find what i am looking for. Does any one have any links to site that will help me Thank you!!

I plan on getting atleast a 5 gallon tank, probably with one male, and am unsure which plants will best filter the environment. I've heard of options such as bamboo and lilies, but I am concerned about plant overgrowth and proper environmental interaction. In addition, I am a frequent traveler and am interested in how to feed a betta while I'm gone.

My kids want a fish. I have never had one so I need some help for what kind to get. I also don't want a huge tank with a filter just a small circle tank so a fish that needs all that stuff is not on my choice list. thanks

My sister has a whole tank of little goldfish, and we're going on vacation soon. She needs a way to feed them, so she was thinking that time-release food blocks would be the way to go.

Have any of you had any experience with these things? If so, what were your thoughts?

I accidentally left a small baggie of frozen bloodworms out last night after feeding my bettas and they thawed. They were still cold so I put them in the fridge. I went and bought some more today, but i was wondering how long can thawed bloodworms last if kept cold in the fridge? Just wondering.

I have Two bettas that spawned the other day......But when I woke up I thought I would see the little tales sticking out from the bottom of the bubblenest but the sire had eaten them all.......Does anyone know why he did that and If I wait and spawn them when the female regains her strenght.....will he grow out of eating to eggs and start to care for the fry?

I have 2 bettas and my male has already started making his bubble nest. I noticed she is much bigger and was wondering when I might expect for the spawning to begin so I can make sure I can get her away from him after all of this happens. She has been getting bigger for approximately a month now. I'm new to bettas and not quite sure what all is to take place with this event.

i put him with some other fish in a tank 3 of the other fish the tiger barbs where piking on him nibbling his fins (my mom called me at work) he hid behind the filter when i came home my mom had placed him in a fish bown now he seens scared what should i do to relieve him

I have two large sunfish and two medium sized crappies (for now.. ) and also an algae eater. I have been feeding rosy minows but they get expensive, plus the pet store always rips me off!! Is there anything else I can feed them that is relativlely cheap? Or is there any food really good for them that I could give them once in awhile for a "treat"? Thanks for your answers. P.S. I live in MN, so it has to be food I can get here- no online stuff please.

I have one 3 stripe damsel fish in a 6 gallon tank with a bio-filter. i've had it for 10 days, and he started acting weird yesterday. he is staying at the bottom in the sand, and is very inactive except for the occasional effort to avoid floating to the top. he didnt eat today, and he just got a sudden burst of energy that sent him to the top of the tank, and now he is laying on top of a plant in the tank. here are the water's test results from the tests i ran this morning:

pH=7.8
ammonia=0
nitrite=0
nitrate=20

any idea what is wrong? salt levels are fine! what could be wrong, and can i help him? i dont want my fish to suffer anymore, but i dont want him to die either! what is wrong?

My betta became sick last week. He was sitting at the bottom of the bowl rather than swimming around and we would kind of have to "wake him up" for him to greet us at the side like he does (he is a very friendly fish). I changed his water (which I do weekly anyways) and left for the weekend. When I got back yesterday he had not gotten better. I did not notice anything other than loss of color and stiff fins and tail when I went to the store to buy medicine for him so I got some general anti-bacterial drops called "Betta Fix Remedy". I changed the water again, put a new fresh plant in, and added the proper amount of drops. Later that day he started to become more active but then would sit on the bottom again. Then I noticed the symptoms of "Ick" (white dust looking stuff covering his head and fins). I'm wondering if I should continue with the med I have now or if I need to get something specifically for Ick. Will all this change in the water make him worse?
