If the Black Convict could not do the job, what other cichlid would work

I have many hiding places

I realize that the convict will only get a max of 6 inches and the oscar and the red devil will get 14 and 8 inches... But how long will the convict last if i can get a 4 inch convict starting out?

In the long term, no. Both the Oscar and the Red Devil get plenty large enough to eat a convict. I really wouldn't suggest you add any other cichlids to that tank, those two will fill it completely as they grow.

The red devil will eventually take over. Hopefully you have a large enough tank to house both of these fish along with the 3rd fish that you are thinking of getting. The smaller the tank is, the more aggressive the fish will be to eachother. If you have the room, a flowerhorn cichlid is about the same temperament as a Devil. Maybe slightly more aggressive, but they should be compatible. The flowerhorn, Devil and oscar all get ABOUT the same size, Oscars probably being just a little bigger. Jaguar cichlids are ok with devils, but kinda questionable with the oscar. Not a safe choice. Good luck.

Hi Convicts can be some what aggressive. Red Devils have got that name because they are a very aggressive fish. Oscars can be some what aggressive but they also get very large. As long as both the Oscars and Convict are the same size they could be keep together for a short time. I would not suggest that you keep them together. As for the Red Devils and the Convicts. Well, the Convict would become lunch for the Red Devils in very short order. So don't even try to putting them together.

It really isn't important how big your fish are right now, you need to realize that the Oscar can get 18 inches long and the Red Devil can get 10 inches. You really don't have any room for the Convict. I don't think the other fish would do too well with it either...

How big are your RD and Oscars right now? I'd be shocked if your RD didn't start killing your Oscar at some point as it is.
