the reason i want to know is because im starting a 55 gallon cichlid tank and its gonna be lake maliwi cichlids only and i was thinking of getting a jawuar cichlid but now i know i cant

They are New World cichlids, from Central America... cool but really territorial fish. Here's a link with more info about them

It's a New World cichlid, Central American. Huge fish that need huge tanks too.

It's Central American. I had one for 12 years. Great fish, very territorial & aggressive. Got to be about 12-13 inches.

They range from Costa Rica to Nicaragua and the eastern Honduras, but have been introduced to many rivers on both coasts of Central America, where they are valued as a food fish. They inhabit slow moving rivers and streams, especially tributaries of large rivers.

jagurs are managuenese cichlids and live in central america.

They are aggressive and not for african cichlid tanks.
