I have two large sunfish and two medium sized crappies (for now.. ) and also an algae eater. I have been feeding rosy minows but they get expensive, plus the pet store always rips me off!! Is there anything else I can feed them that is relativlely cheap? Or is there any food really good for them that I could give them once in awhile for a "treat"? Thanks for your answers. P.S. I live in MN, so it has to be food I can get here- no online stuff please.

I know that's a lot of fish (and big ones)to feed so it WILL be expensive, but just wondered some other ideas.

The sunfish and crappies would be able to eat cichlid pellets. The algae eater can eat zucchini, cucumber, romaine lettuce, peas and beans as long as they're frozen or cooked for a few minutes to soften them.

Since these foods will be unfamiliar to the fish, it may take them a few days to start eating them.

Any frozen food is good like Brine Shrimp or Bloodworms, they stay fairly cheap if you can get a really big container of it.

The frozen brine shrimp or blood worms are good. They keep for a good long long while.
