Loads and loads of horrible advice up there. Male bettas like yours are peaceful fosh that get along well with most other fish except for other Bettas. Whatever you choose to do, please don't add another Betta, either male or female. That said, your tank is really too small to support another fish really, but 2-3 ghost shrimp would be a pretty cool addition to the tank.

you cannot add any other fish in with a betta in a 2 gallon tank. your betta should have at least a five gallon tank so he can move around. Prior to belief it has actually been proven that bettas will get alon with anything that has not got a long frilly tail, so something like a neon or molly etc will be fine if you get a bigger tank. also siamese fighting fish are not agressive they only change colours and flare up, they will not actually fight with the other fish, usually it is the other way around.
Be careful because some fish will attack his fins.

Well, we'll start with the basics. Male Betta + Male Betta = 1 Dead Betta + 1 Injured Male Betta. Male Betta + Female Betta= Dead Male Betta(unless in a breeding situation). You don't have room for any other fish in that tank, but like MM said, Ghost Shrimp would be nice. If you had a larger tank with a heater and filter, you could add some peaceful fish (that are not hyper or nippy). Bettas will only attack fish that look similar to Bettas (long flowing fins). An Apple Snail might look nice too.

Bettas are only aggressive towards their own kind. Peaceful community fish can be kept with bettas, but since you only have a 2 gallon tank, I'd only add maybe 2 of a small varieties, such as neons. The general rule for tank population is two inches of fish per gallon of water. The betta would be a two-inch fish, and the neons would be an inch of fish each.

Something unknown to most people is that bettas prime water temperature is 81-82 degrees. Having a water heater in your tank will keep ypur betta healthier. Most tropical fish prefer water in the 72 degree range. You can balance the temperature at 76 degrees to keep them all as comfortable as possible.

Bettas are docile when put with any other species of fish other than their own. You can put any other fish in with him as long as its a community fish that is not a fin nipper. For your purposes I would stick to just the betta because the tank is smaller. You could get a pair of african dwarf frogs if you wanted to. I have one in with my betta, guppies and platies and none of them bother him. If you want to get more fish I would upgrade to a 5 or 10 gallon tank and add some guppies, platies, mollies or swordtails to the mix. Your betta will not attack or kill any of the other fish. If you got a female betta you could put another female in with her, but never ever ever ever put a male and female betta in the same tank, unless the female is receptive otherwise she will probably get hurt and possibly killed.

A betta should be kept in a minimum of 5 gallons. That's just by itself. If you wanted to add more fish with the betta, I'd suggest upgrading to a 10 gallon and adding a heater, air pump, and filter. Set up some ornaments as well as some gravel for decoration. Don't add any bettas or any fish that look similar to bettas because the betta will attack them. Some fish you can add with them are neon tetras and cory cats. They are just fine.

You should probsbly get a bigger tank. But if you do get other fish you need to get one with out bright colors because the beta might mistake it for another male.

The suggested bare min. tank size for 1 betta is a 1-gallon, and a 2-gallon is even better. So this fish will be perfectly suited to this tank, alone, by itself. Bettas don't need tankmates to be happy like some schooling fish.

I would not add anything else, not even snails etc, as they can kill them. Cory cats are okay with bettas but you should keep those in a group (3 is fine), and that'd be too much for a 2 gallon. Not if you went with a 5 though.

Edit... if you really want to risk losing them, sure, you could add shrimp, but I've seen them being taken down as food before... in the wild, they'd scavange for bugs and such as their only food source, don't you think they'd easily do the same in a tank? They'll grab hold of a snail and knock it around until they kill it and shake it out of the shell to eat it if they wish. It may be okay for a little while until one day they aggress against tankmates one day. I hear all too often "He was perfectly fine and peaceful until one day." All it takes is that one day..

Just get him a mirror and let him display for up to 15 minutes a day once a day for good exercise. He doesn't need a tankmate.

you'd have to get a bigger tank number one. It you did decide to get a 10 gallon or something along those lines you could get neon tetras, corydora catfish, and some other friendly NON TERRITORIAL fish.

a two gallon for 1 betta fish is max. if you want to get other fish i would say to also get a separate tank.
