I used to have marine fish back in the 70's when it first became popular in England, but gave it up because they were so hard to keep, and impossible to breed.
How much has it progressed?

Is there any certain tank size is should buy. I currently have an empty 75 Gallon tank. How fast do they grow? I know they grow to about 24" but how long does that take? What fish can I put with these fish? I would like a Pleco also, but will it be o.k. with the Pacu? Any information on this matter is appreciated. What do they eat? I have seen vegetarian, but I have seen them eat feeders. What kind of tank decorations can I put in the tank?

My boyfriend and I are new fish owners and need some advice.....
We have 2 baby Columbian Sharks. They stay in the back left-hand corner of the tank, swimming only to the surface and back to the bottom...... Does anyone know why?..... I realize they are brackish fish; however, I can't find any info that the fresh water will cause them to stay in one place...... Also, they don't seem to eat very much...... We have 3 Silver angelfish and one Betta in the same tank but they don't bother with eachother. All the fish are basically the same size.

We have 3 batches of baby guppies, we've been trying to find a place to get rid of them. Schools won't take them, all the stores we checked wont take them, friends don't want fish. We don't have the funds to keep buying tanks.. what do we do with them?

I want to eventually do an "angelfish tank" in my 44 gallon aquarium. If I get 6 young angels, I assume at least two of them would at some point pair off. Would I necessarily then need to move either the pair(s) or the remaining angels out of the tank? Just trying to do some pre-pairing planning, alliterations aside. Thanks. :)

I bought couple of clown fish and damsel fish. Coz I cant use the electricity and therefore cant have a pump, I bought oxygen crystals instead. I was told by the shopowner that they will last 6 months. It kind of acts like a pump substitute. However I notice my fish seem to be gasping for air at the water surface! Ok Im really upset now. Seems to me they are dying. Having a pump is out of qn. How do I go about now?

What filters would you recommend for a 20-30gallon tank (or possibly larger) in which I'll be keeping Bettas?

With the drafts and temperature changes in my rather old house, it's going to be much better for me to have a large tank with a divided set of 'cages' for my males to keep the temperatures more regular and allow for filtration rather than frequent changes.

It's been a few years since I bought a filter, so I'm wondering if there have been any changes/advancements/new wonder products?

I'm in the UK but am happy to order from overseas if needs be.

Ideally looking for low sound levels and not too much turbulence in the water, so an adjustable filter is ideal.

Thanks in advance!

I recently acquired a 45 gallon fish tank with an Aquaclear 50 filter. I bought this tank for two semi-aquatic turtles, whose living conditions require that the water not be filled to the tank's full capacity. I have the filter so that the long tube in the tank is submerged in the water only about 1/10 of its length. When I plug the filter in, it makes a strange, loud, almost unbearable sound that can only be stopped by unplugging the filter. The motor gets quite hot as well. My question is this: Is there a way that I can use this filter with the water level not filled to capacity? Thanks for any and all responses.

I have a well established 12 gallon nano-cube aquarium and I am wondering if adding supplements like Kalkwasser and marine buffer does more harm than good.

Is there anyone out there (who does not have access to pure ocean water of course) who maintains a biologically sound nano-reef aquarium without using chemical supplements?
