I was bored yesterday, so I went to WalMart and bought two mixed fruit tetras. I understand that WalMart is probably not the best place to buy fish at, but hey, that's not the point. I purchased the fish around 5:30 pm, along with a bowl, rocks, and food. I kept them in their plastic bag until I got home, at around 9:30 pm. I emptied them into their bowl, and they just sat at the bottom. I didn't put the rocks in there yet or the food, because I am pretty sure that they are dead. How could they have died in such a short time? Should I take the fish back to WalMart and get new ones?

I have a 3ft fish tank with tropical fish in , can i add some Dwarf frogs with these? - redtail black shark, clown loach, guppies, mollies, swordtails, big pleco, little pleco and small cat fish(dora) think that's how it spelt. He never comes out his rock not even for air, (no he's not dead) he moves around inside of an evening, strangely enough i do wonder how he breathes for so long without getting air, anyway back to original question will the frogs be ok with these fish, i asked at the fish shop but some of them just don't seem to care, as ive had to tell them a few facts on fish. Some have very little knowledge of fish. I also have a lot of (fry) baby guppies and swordtails they wont eat them will they? I do have plenty of hiding places which i no you need for the frogs. Also do they have a fairly long life span like most fish? and are they easy to breed? sorry guys i no i'm only supposed to ask one question, any info would be greatfully appreciated, thanks for all your help.x =)

I want to start keeping fish. So I want a book to advise me on all things fish!! I intend on getting a large tank and maybe one of those biorb ones too. The large one will be one of those with cabinet under it if you know what I mean. Also I live in a very warm country (not Hungary) average temperatures ate 35 deg. Would this affect fish in any way. Some help would be much appreciated! Thanks

Hi, I have 2 male 3-spot/blue pearl gouramis, in my 55 gal tank. I added 2 female Bettas to the tank yesterday. The girls hold their own against the gouramis and the rainbow sharks, but it almost seems as though the gouramis are interested in more from the betta girls, than just fighting... That goes both ways too...

My question is, will a male gourami "court" a female Betta, and if so, could they breed? If everything's perfect in the tank, will the gouramis make bubble nests for the girls, hopeless or not? Or was it just a bad idea altogether to mix gouramis with bettas, no matter what sex mix?

I know betta males think of gouramis as opponents, because they're cousins, but these girls display (puff out) the same as the males do, but toward each other AND the gouramis. Of course, the big gourami gets jelous when the little one gets the girl's attention... lol

Anyone a Fish Shrink out there??? lol
Thanks for your answers!
;o)

I bought a male betta fish and kept it in a bowl adding warm water. Then bought a double compartment tank for it. I kept the water temperature at a steady 24 C and then added a second male betta and put him in the second compartment. By the next morning they were slow and lying on the bottom and not eating and by following day their fins had shrivelled and then they both died.
Can anyone help with this before I try again?

The first thing I would like to know, is how can you tell the male from female? Here is a picture of mine.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v147/Fredrick_NP/fish2.jpg

Also it seems like when mine gets fightened, the spot near its tail fin turns dark. Is there any reason / signifance to that? Here is a pic of what I'm talking about.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v147/Fredrick_NP/fish1.jpg

And the last thing that I'm most concerned about is I want to know if these fish are playful. Mine likes to do spins, rest against rocks, and flop around on the sand. It seems almost like its ill, but it always snaps out of it after noticing me, so its hard to tell. Also another thing is does it it likes to float around where the water from the filter pours in. But after it has been doing it for a while, the area around it's gills temporarily turns dark.

Is that a sign that somthing's wrong?
