more filtration won't hurt fish. it will actually help them. the charcoal in the filters will help break down amonia (bad)and nitrates (bad) in to nitrites(not bad). also for benificail bacteria when one filter is clean the other still has it growing so that it won't have to be restarted from sctratch. also if put at oppisite ends it will help to keep the tank cleaner. it may cost more but the tank will be healthier.

Sure. It's probably a little better. You've got a 15 gal excess filtering capacity and filtering from 2 areas of the tank instead of just one central location.

Two filters for a 30 gallon tank each would be just fine. In fact, it has certain advantages. Such as, if one quits the other will still keep the tank from crashing untilyou can replace the broken filter. Also, when you clean the tank, you can clean one filter once each time and rotate them so that you don;t damage the cycle in the tank. Personally I prefer that to one larger filter.

i have a 45 gal tank amongst other tanks but i find using a bio wheel 200 and a power head works great i only have to clean my tank every 4 months ow give them a strip of bubbles to it helps put air in the tank and they love to swim through it but to answer your question i dont see no reason why you cant use two filters

yes but would put them at opposite ends of the tank and depending on the set up have the return water both in the same direction or towards each other, this will depend on the fish, still recommend water changes of 10% a week.

I think it would actually be better to buy 2 filters. Then if one breaks, they will have some filtration...
