My boyfriend and I are new fish owners and need some advice.....
We have 2 baby Columbian Sharks. They stay in the back left-hand corner of the tank, swimming only to the surface and back to the bottom...... Does anyone know why?..... I realize they are brackish fish; however, I can't find any info that the fresh water will cause them to stay in one place...... Also, they don't seem to eat very much...... We have 3 Silver angelfish and one Betta in the same tank but they don't bother with eachother. All the fish are basically the same size.

If your sharks are new fish, they may just be adjusting to the new tank at this point. It's good to see you know these need salt - they should have some in the water already, but will need increased salinity as they mature. They also tend to be "hiders" so if you give them plenty of places to duck into cover (rocks, plants) they'll be more comfortable and more active. Chances are, if you don't have a lot of hiding spots, that's why they're in a corner (or under the filter) - they're trying to keep away from the other fish.

Chop up some raw shrimp or fish fillets and feed it that. This is OK for most fish actually. Maybe not as a complete balanced diet, but as a treat or something to feed them for a couple of days it's fine. Ian
